Herrmill, did they give you any indication as to what it will cost?
Thanks
Thanks

Nope. Am assuming its still around the $200 mark.
Been asking if they plan to do follow with a kit for Takom's FT-17 but no word.

Just wanted to share a e-mail reply I got from 35rctank regarding the Pz. 38(t) r/c upgrade kit. I had asked about the tracks to see if they were included and pre-drilled. Also inquired about the price.
Hello Rudy:
The price is not yet determine, but will very close to our 1/35 kits. We will only provide the track pins, you have to drill through the original plastic track.
Feel free to contact us if you have any question.
Best regards!

This wont work - I have this kit and the plastic tracks have no strength in them. The pins may be steel but the surrounding plastic is really weak and just splits. Not a good solution. I was hoping for a more robust track.
I wanted to RC my 38(t) but unless the tracks are improved - I'll shelve the project for now. Just my two cents....................

I feel exactly the same as CaptB. I drilled out a few links to see what I'd get if I spent the hours needed to drill them ALL out. I don't think they'd hold up to hardly any use, and would require frequent repair. I have also decided to shelve my build until there are aftermarket tracks available. -Mike

I was about to jump on the metal Hetzer tracks until I got to checkout and saw the 29 euro shipping. The 55 euros for the tracks is reasonable, but $40 from Germany to the US for 1 kg is a bit high. I paid $90 for two day shipping from Japan on the JS-2 and that was something like 12 kg.
I drilled out one side of the kit tracks a while ago, took about three hours total with the learning curve. Second side should take about two or so. The key is the speed has to be slow to avoid melting. I first did them by hand with a pin vise, but then used a rechargeable hand drill gun since the speed can be controlled.
In terms of strength, the side worked fine in testing, I used piano wire for pins. There won't be much weight on this thing and even though the tracks are small, there are a lot of contact points and the pin passes through five, so there is some strength to it.
I'll go back to it one day, too many other projects in the works.

Hi Blimp,
Will these Hetzer tracks fit the Panda 38T sprockets?
Also, are their Panda 38T metal drive sprockets available for the metal tracks?
Not keen on using metal tracks on plastic sprockets - wont last long.
Cheers

Yea, S.K. considers the FT a "funny tank"... Guess they have no idea of its historical impact nor the number of kits TAKOM must be selling. I see they'll release the new MG edition in a few months.

Kit arrived
I got the 35 RC Tank kit today. Looks complete and very nicely done.
The gearboxes look TINY compared to a Tamiya Transmission, but they WILL fit in the Hetzer. Not sure how they will handle the heavier resign kit. May end up trying to fabricate a lower hull out of aluminum if it could both save weight and make a stiffer platform for mounting the drivetrain.
I will bench test all the electronics BEFORE I get started on the mods.

SUCESS! Got it all to work……. after reading the directions three or four time, and bit of trouble shooting…….
Mainly my fault. The only thing that may be lacking in the directions is though all the leads coming off the MTC are numbered, I don't recall seeing what order to plug them into the Spektrum Receiver.
Also, pay attention on the ACU, what direction you plug-in the MF, GF, and SP. The dark ground wire goes up (as stated in the directions). If you are having trouble with the sound, main gun LED, or MG LED, then check the polarity of these. I can confirm that the polarity needs to be correct.

So which Hetzer do you have, early or late ? Also are you going to adapt the 38t running gear to it?
