Well I figured it was the challenger, which we have seen before, but the Abrams is nice as well. Credit to HL for again producing more of what we want.

Typically Heng long is pretty good for not making us wait. Although with this being a Taigen announcement and not Heng Long the wait time is anyone's guess. I remember when Waltersons announced the Sherman. It was over a year before we actually were able to buy one.

Whatever the wait it will be worth it. Two great tanks.

Who cares if they have a few faults. They are coming, Finally. I simply cant wait. Did i mention I love that Chally, oh and also did i mention i love that Abrams and Leo. I don;t want to get greedy but Jeff is right we need some nice Russian armor to play with the NATO boys now. An T80 or 90 would be super awesome. Even a T72 but hey, lets get up to date if we are going modern.

The more I look at that Chally the more excited I get. It is crying out for some detail packs and a really good suspension / transmission set-up ideally with a metal chassis.

Erik, will you be able to tell us what plans Taigen have for the Chally?

I knew the challenger would be a bigger hit then the Abrams lol....(not that the Abrams isn't a bad-ass tank)...Will these come in an IR version?

Erik, how does the two tanks look in terms of finishing? Do they look like they are hand-finished samples or mass-production items? Any shots of the interior?

Any possible development of a kit form? Add your own electronics kinda deal? The Chally 2 will need many mods for my interest level. Deconstruction is tedious work...

Know I may get flamed for this, but is this another T-34 HL type release? Everyone asks and no one buys? Don't get me wrong, new releases are always a good step, but I'd still think
a UK or French WWII release would be so much bigger for us. Sure the Maker is possibly looking to sell to the random 12 year old who doesn't know anything before Call of Duty.
I do also understand that people want modern tanks, but to the price of another 2 year's of re-hashes? Thinking most these Chally's will be shelf queens, like the tammy Leo 2a6 or if you got all your parts the T-55...he he.

I dont know if HL were aiming at a Callof Duty market.

The two tanks look very similar and the challenger isnt well known really.

They could have nailed that market with the abrams alone.

But the T34 comment is fair.

Nor does the existence of a model assure a vibrant selection of addons.

Look at the bulldog compared to a panzer in terms of after market stuff.

That's a good point. I have a lot of hesitation over getting a HL Pershing because it lacks LOTS of upgrades, although there's stuff coming from Germany for it (wheels, bearings, metal parts... ) but not much.

To be more fair, the HL T-34 is a great tank despite lower sales.

As mentioned in another thread, the lower sales experienced by the HL T-34 could be explained by the fact that most of us already have a T-34 thanks to the WSN release a few years ago.

I'm happy for all the modern armor buffs but modern armor for the most part just doesn't float my boat. Considering most model tanks are just shells
with some electronics and mechanics stuffed into them the part that remains as a model just isn't interesting to me; they're all too similar in the parts that remain.
Before anyone jumps on that, sounds don't do it and I fully recognize why most of us can't have a perfectly miniaturized tank in 1/16 scale down to engines, transmissions and all.

Older armor, in and around WWII that we all know is so diverse and character loaded you can lose yourself in the subject. It's similar to firearms, while modern arms are more effective, uniform and technologically superior to older arms esthetically they are droll and boring nothing even close to a 1911, P08, Mauser c96, Thompson 1921, Vickers or MP40. The 'old stuff' just had character, the character of individual designers and thinkers. Modern items ( not limited to arms of war ) are just boring as a whole, effective, useful and necessary but gawd awful boring... all the same studies, manufacturing methods and delivery channels are used the world over.

I'm glad somebody likes them. No flames please, enjoy your modern stuff in peace, just my 2 cents.

Jerry
