I completely agree and i would feel the same way but i already have an Hobby Engine Abrams that I did extensive modifications too that is just waiting for the new TK22board that Clarke just released.

No flames Tanque, we all know that the WWII stuff will always be the driving force behind this hobby and i do hope that some of the long awaited models we still want do find it to the market. i would still love to see a production Cromwell or British Firefly and even a Chaffee for the light tank fans. Something for everyone. We are just extremely lucky that the manufacturers are taking a closer look at what has been the hot topic recently . when this faze is over we will all be back to the classics as usual.

Know I may get flamed for this, but is this another T-34 HL type release? Everyone asks and no one buys? Don't get me wrong, new releases are always a good step, but I'd still think
a UK or French WWII release would be so much bigger for us. Sure the Maker is possibly looking to sell to the random 12 year old who doesn't know anything before Call of Duty.
I do also understand that people want modern tanks, but to the price of another 2 year's of re-hashes? Thinking most these Chally's will be shelf queens, like the tammy Leo 2a6 or if you got all your parts the T-55...he he.

However I believe a large part of Heng Long's sales are to casual tankers that prefer airsoft, sound and smoke, and don't take part in organized battles. The serious RC tanker that drops more than $500 on buying or upgrading a tank is rare. Therefore large, famous tanks will likely sell better than obscure tanks that only armor enthusiasts know about. It explains why there's so many iterations of the Tiger, King Tiger and the runaway success of the Leopard, even though there was a technically superior OOTB Tamiya on the market - it captured a large segment of the market that wanted one but couldn't afford the Tamiya.
Once Heng Long saw that the ZTZ-99 sold well (domestically) and the Leopard continued to sell well, they probably saw enough market to launch two modern MBTs at the same time. Even if sales are flat, the molds are in existence and you can expect to be able to buy an Abrams or Challenger for years to come.
I doubt that the modern tanks would be shelf queens once there are enough of them to form full-scale battles. I am one of those hold-outs that have bought all the WW2 tanks I could possibly want and am more keen to fulfill my modern tank wish-list now. Both these releases are on it, and should Tamiya follow suit to release their version, I'll upgrade to that, pretty sure I would have no problem selling on the HLs.

1) He even stated he probably would get flamed for this.
2) He made comments such as "random 12 year old, and shelf queen's.
All of which were provoking in nature. Now Tanque's post bashed the Modern Armor even more than Benny's but did so without provoking comments and I would not consider it Trolling. Trolling as a term is subjective to each person. What one may find trolling, another may not. To each his own.
Troll Definition: In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[SUP][1][/SUP] by posting inflammatory,[SUP][2][/SUP]extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally[SUP][3][/SUP][SUP][4][/SUP] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[SUP][5][/SUP] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[SUP][6][/SUP]This sense of the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, but have been used more widely. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, mass media has used troll to describe "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."[SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][8]

Just so you can get to know me.
I am an Armor Crewman, I served on M60A3's, and M1A1's. I am also have a service connected disability due to serving on tanks. My hearing (damn 120mm is LOUD!). So before you start spouting off just know that I had the honor of serving my country on a vehicle that you like to model, and control remotely.
I know what it is like to conduct night firing on Tank Table 8 while sleep deprived.
I know what it is like to spend 2 weeks on Hohenfehls.
I know what it is like to freeze my hands off in winter weather getting the Hohenfehls concrete mud off of my tank at the wash rack.
I know what it feels like to slam my head onto the edge of rolled steel in the turret.
I know what it is like to cook c-rats over the back deck of an M1A1.
FYSA - I respect all members of this forum as we are few, and most assuredly a minority compared to the rest of the RC Hobbyists. Damn them RC Trucks, and Planes!!!!
Just because you like someone more than the other doesn't mean they have been a part of this forum or hobby longer than I have known what an RC Tank was.
I have been perusing this forum since before I got married. Which was back in 2000. I just never joined until 2011.
But if Benny's join date since 2010 signifies his expertise and long up-standing membership then I quake at the thought of making any future comments.
But feel free to run your mouth, even before you know me. It is your constitutional right after all. I know ... I defended it!!!!
And just like it is your constitutional right, It is my same said constitutional right to make an observation ... regardless if it pisses you off or not.
War and Peace,

Having been in the hobby since 1975 and nearly 70 tanks in 1/10 and 1/16 scale I hope never to have to leave
the hobby. They'll have to pry my last tank from my cold dead fingers....
I had the opportunity to ride in the commander's station of a Leo II at Munster many years ago ( 1992) and as exhilarating as that was I never was
motivated to build one...and the driver really let it rip...

Wow , finally the Abrams.. no wonder you beat around the bush like a bandit in the other threads.. LMAO !
You will need to make rubber pad tracks to compete, I think you know this though. Those full metal jobbers just dont cut it.

Do any companies have any plans for a tank transporter (dragon wagon) I've seen a couple on youtube and was blown away. They were likely homemade and expensive, but a two part kits I could afford(cab/trailer and optional add ons, ie lights, etc.) A 1/16 armoured recovery vehicle would be awesome as well.

One in the UK was very close.
Here are a few more. Some are 6 wheel drive.
Sadly there are very few soft skinned vehicles in 1/16. I have done are few 1/16 die-cast trucks as have others. I wish we had more.
Here are a few tank recovery videos:

Wow!..I'd have no idea where to start from scratch though I'm willing to try. While I appreciate the older military versions ( I'm 4th generation retired Cdn Forces) I really like the newer vehicles and styles. There seems to be much more room for add-ons and mod's, and I think this would also inspire a younger generation to get involved in this great hobby. That would only benefit the rest of us. Maybe more sales would lower prices and also generate newer models, maybe even submit one's own design. Who know's, it could be a future REAL tank, inspired by those who love the hobby. or maybe I overmedicated, but it's like the guys who like the '60's car's and those who like the newer models. Great photo's though. I have to have one someday.
