Heartfelt thank you from Sevastopol

You would be considerably wrong in what you believe "most Americans " give a rats ass about. As far as Fox "Fake" news is concerned i have ever yet to see any of the Socialist networks ever tell the truth about anything.

Secret evidence given to the Chilcot Inquiry into the conflict reveals the former Prime Minister was told in 2002 that Libya posed a far greater threat and was pursuing an active nuclear weapons programme.
By contrast, one senior MI6 officer said it was clear 12 months before the war that Saddam Hussein had no nuclear weapons and no significant WMD at all.
The unnamed officer said any actual WMD in Iraq would be ‘very, very small’ and would fit on ‘the back of a petrol lorry’.
Blair is said to have ‘understood’ that Libya was the real threat.
On April 4, 2002, the day before Blair flew to the United States for a pivotal weekend with Bush, he is said to have accepted that ‘it would not be sensible to lead the argument on Saddam and the WMD issue’.
In the run-up to the 2003 war, Blair claimed the intelligence on Iraq’s WMD programme was ‘extensive, detailed and authoritative’.
Fast Forward a few years and Blair’s WMD intelligence was neither detailed nor authoritative it was none existent

This has nothing to do with the topic at hand but shows the exact type of manipulation I spoke of previously in this post.

Holy cow! Gentlemen and ladies, I started this thread to offer Ye'lean'chka's and my most sincere thanks and deep appreciation of the concern for us expressed by so many of you and to give you a tiny idea of what was going on down here from what I or she personally saw or witnessed live on news. I see the thread has wandered a bit. I also stated I would post no more, but in the interest of getting things a little back on track I will post the current SitRep as we personally see it. Also, let me say this. I am American, period. I chose to live with my wife some years ago because she did not want to come to USA and we both knew I could live here with no problems. Living here in what is a 200 plus year old city does not make me any less patriotic to my homeland, but it does give me a 'treads in the mud' view of the other side of a disagreement.
Yesterday started the paper chase. Since the OVIR offices (the bureaucracy that takes care of any internal documents, international passport apps. and residency permits for foreigners) are over run with applicants for document changes we opted to start with the dog papers as that is done with the main dog 'club' in Simferopol and would of course not be anywhere near as busy as OVIR or GAI (traffic police and vehicle documents).
Simferopol is the capitol of Krimea, about 70 klicks east of us. It takes about an hour to drive there and another half hour to make you way to the main Krim dog club in city. We did see a goodly amount of military traffic on the roads, all trucks, no BTR's anywhere that we could see. The two check points between us and Simferopol are gone, everything cleaned up, no trash, nothing. As we were on the way to the capitol the check point near Bachti Sarai had a couple squads of the 'polite young men in green' who were filling in the various dug positions in the fields along the road. The check point at the Simferopol-Belbek-Inkerman-Lubimovka Ring is completely gone except for two small tents set up on the Lubimovka side with about half a dozen soldiers there and two standing in the grassed center of the ring, all armed of course but not 'combat' equipped as before. Still no insignia of any kind on them but that is normal for a deployment as it was for me and mine when we deployed.
On arriving at the dog club all our documents were ready. Ukraine Kennel Club in Kiev is of course the umbrella organization for Ukraine and was for here. All documents were translated in to Ukrainian language about 5 years ago. Now the Russian Kennel Federation is the umbrella organization for Krim and Sevastopol so all are now in Russian. Go figure for that foolishness. At any rate, since we are well known in the club and VCO called them last week about our documents the club did all the paperwork before we arrived. We picked up the nine pedigrees and Sophia's long awaited championship papers after signing for all.
After, we chatted a bit with the club 'president', IOW the owner. He showed us the latest missive from Kiev that had arrived that morning. Kiev has forbidden any dogs from Russia or 'the secessionist regimes in Krimea and Sevastopol' to attend any UKC events and has revoked any and all pedigrees and championship documents for any dogs in the aforementioned areas issued from Kiev over the last 10 years. We got a good laugh over that one as that is against the EU rules and regs for dog clubs and events and EUKC in Brussels is the presiding umbrella for both UKC and RKF and we're sitting there with all the documents for our herd in a folder at our side. Anyhow, after a cup of tea and a general chat we saddled up and headed back to Sevastopol. Traffic is normal in Sim, shops are working, people are going about their daily business as usual.
On the way back we stopped in to the main market at Bachti Sarai, the old Tatar Khanate Capitol. It is in that market that we buy the best all beef sausage you will ever taste. All the little shops and kiosks were full of shoppers, most Tatar but many Christians also. You rarely see a burkha there, just Tatari dressed as the rest of us, even in summer when the young Tatar girls wear the same revealing clothes all the local gals wear. The food shops were full of meats and fresh veggies, no shortages anywhere and none expected. Krim is a bread basket and if needs be can be completely self sufficient for food. Krim exports vast quantities of wheat and other grains, the huge facility for export is right next to the harbor on our side. I'm talking a couple dozen massive silos and the trains full of grain are non stop all spring, summer and fall. There are massive hot houses all around the fields and farms surrounding Bachti Sarai and they work all year. Prices are very reasonable also, well below the normal 'store' price in this berg and in Sim. The rest of the ride back was uneventful.
Early next week we start the vehicle chase. We have already seen a few cars that have had their registrations changed. Seems that instead of going the all new tag deal with Russian license tags and numbers, a simple sticker is being installed on the left side of the tag that neatly covers the former Ukraine flag and 'UKR' in English and has the Russian flag and 'RUS' below the flag. Friends in Yalta and in this berg have already told us what we need to do for our personal documents and seems it will be easy with no additional documents needed, just copies of marriage docs, passport and fill out a brief form. We'll see. The lines at the various OVIR offices are huge at the moment.

You know. . . . . .youre probably right.
I knew the tank section of rcuniverse was unmoderated, usa- centric and where political hearts were worn on sleeves.
Doesnt bother me much.
There are however other forums of quality with less politics and hopefully devoid of people as cretinous as you.
And thats where I think I'll head to.
Best of luck with what passes for the rest of your life.
Have a good one.

Anyways, if this truly your exit, I do indeed wish you the best on your future endeavors. I did quite enjoy our debates and have taken absolutely no offence, hopefully you do not either. I would hate to see you depart.
Bob, I do apologize for derailing your thread and I will pray for you and your family.
I think a little contentious debate is good for the soul. It has certainly opened my eyes to different points of view and I feel a better man as a result.

In case you do not know it.....compenies are kindoms and the CEO's are the kings. When media compenies owned the media, they could report the news. Now that almost all media compenies are owned multi mationals, there is no liberal madia....you want news....you have to look for it and when you think you found something that is news worthy, you have to search where it came from and who broke it.....or you can be a sheepeople like you are right now......
you want a real thing to be upset about? Search T.P.P......I am guessing FOX is not covering that so you have no idea what it is......

servoblast,
First let say I'm an airplane guy but saw your thread's title and was curious as to what it meant. What I read was a first hand account of things that was happening there and became interested.
As things progressed you were attacked for your writing about your situation which to me was unfounded, it was your opinion. I did not feel this was right so I jumped it and hope sided with you. All the while not knowing you were an American which didn't matter anyway. I would like to apologize for taking this thread away from the direction you wanted and hope things work out to your liking.
Best of luck to you and yours.

Evernad, Eric, mustclimb and Cruiser. Ye'lean'chka and I do appreciate spirited debate and discussion and the reality is we like nothing better. However, we both thought the discussions were getting a little out of hand and heated and after a rather spirited debate last evening as we sipped some good Massandrah on the porch we decided to post again. The last thing I want is to see friendships and tanker relationships rent asunder by our attempt to thank one and all for your very much appreciated and never to be forgotten sympathy and concern over our plight. I and we take no umbrage at any of the comments and opinions expressed in this thread. No one has anything to apologize for or to be sorry for. Freedom of speech means you can, and must, express your opinions and thoughts. I have tried hard to not inject opinion and conjecture in my posts on this thread. I am human and I'm getting crotchety in my old age, but I tried. Reality is I can, and probably will, write a book about what happened down here and in Kiev, but that will be after I finish the current tome I'm working on. What I have told you, little it may be, is as a hand full of sand on a vast beach. But, again, we both appreciate all the emails and PM's of concern for us. And again, we will never forget. You are one great bunch of men and women. We are proud to know you.
The situation here, as you can see from my post above, is now normal or approaching normal. We are now in no danger what-so-ever in this city and in Krim. We can and will deal with the surprisingly still 'soviet' bureaucracy and officialdom and get all our needed documents and paperwork finished, pain in the nether regions the process may be. And again, we thank you all.

All do respect Bob but it's not Krim who ever was in danger. Crimea has and will always be Russian, Ukriane is the one who is in danger of being invaded by Russia just as was Georgia in the recent past. It is plain to see in the west what Putin is up to. He wants his old USSR back and is likely to take what ever steps he deems necessary to achieve that.
