HL King Tiger Gears Problem
Some of you may have seen my previous post about buying metal gears for my King Tiger, I ordered some Waltersons Brass gears and fitted them, they worked fine for the first run, then when i went to run the tank a few days later, the left tracks were not turning, The gears are running freely etc. Any suggestions?

Best way to diagnose is treat it like a flow chart.
After making sure there's no track pin hanging up or obstruction, start with the motor and work you way down. If the motor turns, but the gearbox doesn't, check the pinion. If the gears are turning, but not the drive sprocket, check the final drive gear or anything in between that isn't turning.

I solved the problem by following your advice, the left side seems to be fine now, however it seems underpowered compared to the other side, will this cure after more running in?

One side moving slower than the other can be a from a whole host of reasons. First, make sure your trims are centered. Then the same amount of track links side to side (or sag). Are both gearboxes evenly greased?
Same method, but start from the tracks up, looking for drag, etc, until you get to the motors. They can be uneven too.
I wouldn't worry too much if there's just some drift to one side while going forward (trim or just steering will fix that), but it there's a severe tracking problem or one side is certainly under strain opposed to the other, you may want to look into it.

Perhaps the gears in the gearbox are touching I.e. hitting each other when spinning. The cure is to take apart the box and add a brass washer as a shim on the gear shaft so they do not touch. Examine the gearbox while its running, try to see if any of them clash. Any sign of wear on the SIDE of the gears is a dead giveaway the gears are hitting each other. So if it seems like theyre hitting each other, disasemble, add the thin brass washers to the gear shafts to create just the little bit of clearance between the gears.
