Here's More News on the T-72 front: I got an e-mail from Bob Herne at ETO Armour and asked about the possibility of Them carrying the T-72 Magazine Series, and he pretty much echoed what Hal_Husker said earlier. The price per magazine installments and overseas postage would be VERY Expensive, therefore he probably won't be offering them to the USA.

Sorry for the Bad Tidings. 1st, 35rctank won't offering an R/C conversion kit for the FT-17 and Now THIS.

I haven't given up Hope for a 1/16 Scale T-72, but its slowly fading.

After speaking with the CFO of ETO, aka VCO (now that's a code that NSA will have to crack!) I have decided to not carry this tank. My chief worry is what happens if one has half or 3/4 of the kit over a period of a year and then the maker decides to stuff it? That will leave me morally bound to buy them all back. If someone is going to this much trouble for a magazine then I think one can assume that there will be more modern Sov armor coming.

We just have to wait a couple of years, and eventually the whole set will be available on Ebay (happened the same with the Hachette Tiger), and some resin manufacturer will clone it too.

It's a pity they don't have a clue about the worldwide selling potential of such a model....

Dear DeAgostini International,

For the LOVE Poly Styrene, DeAgostini! Release the DARN T-72 Magazine/Kit Thing in the USA! We DO Have a DeAgostini USA, here. And They Do have a Kit Series. Heck, They even have a 1/8 Nitro Hummer Kit/Series in circulation! But Not one tank Kit. The ONLY Armor Series DeGostini USA has is Samurai Armor. HELLO? Samurai Armor? For USA Sales? PLEASE!

(SIGH) Sorry for Rant. Over and OUT.

Yours Truly,

Uncle Mordo

Yesterday I had news from a fellow tanker that DeAgostini is working to release this tank in Italy. He has been asked to write some articles for the magazine accompaining each part release. So there is chance we will be able to get it someday.

Ty Eugeni,
the Russian DeAgostini site homepage holds a couple of videos of it, indeed:

http://www.deagostini.ru/ecm/web/dea-ru/online/home

Bear in mind that the shown electronic functions (sound and dynamics) are those of the prototype: the final ones will be much better since they have been completely re-designed by the maker of the IBU2.

I think I can publish some hires pictures I took last october, when I had the chance to drive the prototype:

Does it mean that T-72 will have the battle unit Tamiya protovol (as IBU does)?

Hi Hal
I will ask about this detail. For sure the prototype's original board was IR compatible only against another T-72.

I have been talking with Ivano, and DeAgostini hasn't required compatibility yet, but the proposed hardware (it's not a stock IBU2, it's a custom project) can deal with it. There is not a definitive word yet. It will be a matter of software wheter or not to support it, but the final decision is in the editor's hands (DeAgostini). Maybe if customers do require compatibility with Tamiya IR code, they will just implement it.
The electronic boards have not been produced so far, so there is still time to change things software-wise.

There sure are a lot of familiar looking internals in that tank. I wonder if Heng Long is producing the kits for DeAgostini?

Not directly, AFAIK, but they probably supply some internal components (or the same 3rd company supplying Heng Long...).
