LOL Jeff. I can only imagine the two of us driving our tanks like drunk drivers. Not sure if NEAD could whether that storm - lol?

I'm pretty sure I got the JS-2 barrel stuck in every obstacle there. At one point Bob asked if I was shooting planes because my gun was so elevated. Truth is I was just trying to go 10 feet without hanging up.

I had a apple with your name on it for loan.
And we had no snow this time
...but mud instead;

Just trying to help Jeff... Since most RC tankers have their IR emitter atop the barrel it is important to have it horizontal of a little lower to be most effective. Once it starts to become elevated it creates a huge IR blind-spot in front of the tank. It is hard to tell it has climbed especially from behind.

He had a few great 7 vs. 7 tank battles. The sound of 14 tanks running was so loud you could hardy hear.

I know my son and I had a blast.
Apologies to all for my lack of battlefield know-how and etiquette and thanks for putting up with me. I'll be better next time.
And as after action report: the JS-2 has been completely repaired, it'll be a while before the T-34 rears it's ugly head (not a problem with the road wheel refit, just too many other projects) and after a 20 minute vacuuming of the Pz IV, it's relatively unscathed. I have no idea how my son managed to get so much straw inside the thing, but when I opened it up to pull the battery, I expected to see a bunch of baby birds chirping for food. There was even straw stuffed down the speaker port.

I want to thank all that had attended,it was the best turn out that we had so far. it was nice to see some old faces and new faces. I thank you Scott for all the hard work in getting the field up and dealing with DPW.. And let us not forget Bob for getting all of us together. thanks guys lets do it again soon, and with the tankers that could not make it this time. lets see if we can get a higher head count.

It was the best battle day so far at sf...Jeff, the think the soviet troops nick name for the is2 was "the pike" because of that great big telephone pole sticking out of front of it...the only tank that compaires is the jag panther.

And thanks for setting up the field.

We were too but I'm glad it was a great day. I did spend some time adding chipping to the tiger just to feel like I was part of a tank day.

The first time I came to NJ for a tank battle was about 18 months ago. I said then I would be back and finally did just that. What a great way to spend a day!
Thanks again Leong for getting my tank in fighting shape! Thanks Bob and Scott for all their hard work. It was great to meet everyone, and to re-meet some of you also.
I can't wait to do it again, I would like to get to Danville in May, but that weekend is my granddaughters birthday.........I wonder if I can bribe my daughter in law.......
Thanks again everyone, hopefully I'll see you all soon for more.

The quality of the people drive this hobby....not the RC tanks or the history behind them.
I look forward to many more NEAD events for 2014.
Some of the forthcoming NEAD events:
NEAD Spring RC Tank Battle Weekend at the AAF Tank Mus. in Danville, VA: May 16 to 18th, Fri. to Sunday
RC Tank battle day at the Southern New England Military Mus. at Danbury CT.: TBA
WW II Weekend at the Mid Atlantic Air Mus. Reading PA: June 6 to 8th Fri to Sunday
...more to be listed soon. Mark your calendars men.

Thanks you for the kind words Brett. It was a hectic day with so man new RC tankers. That is not a complaint, but an observation. I was a little off kilter all day due to my two tank tables being MIA that morning. My better half loaned them to a friend last year for a garage sale and she never got them back. I still love her though. Luckily my daughter Kim brought them to the park for me. She was my right hand that day. Thanks for keeping things rolling Brett. With so many new tankers there I was sidetracked repeatedly with questions and helping people. Thanks to Scot, Leong and all the NEAD members for helping the new guys with their tank woes. I would have preferred a partly cloudy day for better IR range and hit confirmation. But you couldn't beat the warm air. Too bad we couldn't use the prepped battlefield.

Bob, you mentioned that there will be a NEAD June meet in Reading, PA coinciding with the MAAM World War II weekend?

I put off going for about 5 years and now kick myself for not going sooner.

I'd like to go again this year and bring Maia as well. Unfortunately I'm only free Sunday to attend. Which day are you thinking of going Bob? I know you like to go earlier so all the Vendors
aren't picked through.
