1/48 type VII?

It's going to be nearly 6 feet long.

With Heng Long coming out with an Abrams and the Leopard 2A4 having already been out forever with Tamiya, I think Hooben made a stupid move to come out with those tanks...They would have been much better off doing a T-72 or ,maybe the Maus or E-100(I really wanted that) they were toying with...not that exciting if you ask me...

I like the E 100. That is one WWII tank i would consider. But I agree, Hooben should go with the T72 or something not yet planned. Really no sense for all the manufacturers to make the same models. Nut i believe Hooben had plans for an Abrams before HL decided to make one. It just takes Hooben too long to design and implicate their models. HL and other brands have the resources to bring models to market much faster than Hooben.

I have some experience importing dirt bikes and ATV's from China and basically you can have 20 different companies all using the same basic platform of an item but maybe add a different electronic set up tweaking the body parts, etc. Basically all 20 guys are going to the same body maker, the same engine supplier, same electronic harness supplier, and they bring it back to their "factory" where they tweak it and sell it abroad. Doing this keeps the costs down but what you end up with is the same item with just a little mechanical or electric difference. I suspect it is the same thing here. A whole bunch of companies are going to come out with the same "new" tank and all that will be different is the packaging and some electronics....

LOL ....I am growing tired of the rehashes of already available RC tanks. British tanks please!.... and some Stuarts, Lee/Grants, Chafee, Hellcat, Patton. Come on already.

The Leopard 2A6 had its origins in the 2A4, but there's enough differences between them to matter. Kind of like the differences between a Sherman 105mm and an Easy 8.

I beg to differ, no one currently makes a Leopard 2A4, Tamiya have the Leopard A4 and 2A6 the A4 variant is based on the Leopard 1 chassis which is somewhat different from the Leopard 2 chassis there are also a number of differences between the two A4 turrets

What was the Sherman based SP.? It had the 105 howitzer right in the middle of the vehicle. I think it was called the Priest. Is that correct? I have been thinking of a project using a lower hull and fabrication an upper that could house the 105. I like field artillery incorporated into the RC battle field.
I guess you could use a TBU with a little wider IR emitter field of vision or maybe multiple emitters to simulated the spread out damage pattern that an artillery strike would cause.

My recommendation, as with the tank releases, I'd not send your money until you can hold an actual production kit in hand. So far there's been no kit available since its been plugged since Jan 2013 - its all vaporware according to those who've been trying to sell it in the States.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not in the market for this, I'd have to RC it and by the time I could pull that off, I'd be able to buy and build four Tamiya 1/16 FOs.

don't forget the hooben ones would be more quality and details , like their T55 it was good far better then anything HL brings out ... its a kit , you learn while you build it

look at the HL T34 the same story , to quickly released and bad comment a over the world

So anyone know what was (wasn't) shown at this week's Fair? I see that Mr. Feng couldn't make it for some reason or another.

Yeah... I was really pissed they cancelled the MAUS. Now let's put out a Leopard (that's been done to death) even though it's a version that hasn't been done yet, WHO CARES!! Hope it's better than their T55 ending up being.

And an Abrams? Oh come on... get more creative than that!

Herrmil, today is Wednesday the first day of the Dortmund fair, most new stuff if any will be shown Friday and Saturday, as soon as Karel returns home on Sunday I would expect him to report what has and hasn’t happened, Wednesday and Thursday are busy but not the main days.

No surprise on Herr Feng not showing for the event.

Jeff, this is the problem announcing several years in advance what you intend to release, if there is a welcoming response you can bet anything your opponent’s in this case Heng Long will take note then develop and release their version, nice as it is to know what is in development it’s always better to be surprised by something that is not only new but is about to be released

They should partner with WOT and release those heavies! The Maus and E-100 are very popular in the game. I am sure they could tap in to the thousands of players to market those tanks. I know I would buy both in a heartbeat.

Right you are! If marketed the way you propose, they would sell big quantities.

I suppose one could only ask RC tank companies if since the advent of World of Tanks if sales of RC tanks have actually gone up as a result, I would expect not, most of these online geeks are just that on line geeks and live a life of fantasy unlike us modellers who live in the real world with our toy tanks :O)

You're so right Mark. A guy I know keeps telling me about WOT and the tanks he buys with points... he talks about tank names/designations that are not even REAL existing tanks!

I tell him that I build historically correct models and WOT deals with fantasy.
