Default HL Pinion Gear

Im aware this has been discussed before but I could find no clear answer...

I took a HL motor and pinion gear to the best RC guys in the region, they took one look at it and said what the h*ll is that... ? Hehe I said, it's Chinese, go figure.. We compared 32 and 48 pitch gears and the HL pinion is somewhere in between.

Anyhow, looking for replacement pinions for HL style gearboxes. They're all basically the same 10 tooth on a 2.3mm motor shaft... any thoughts?

Mitosal has some options, scroll down the page. Robinson racing has some as well, but the bore may need to be widened and can't remember if .5 module is the pitch we use.

Correction: tamiya uses .6 module pitch so the link to the robinson racing pinions is useless, but you could look around their site to see if they have
2mm bore .6module.

If I remember correctly that is a .7 mod right? Best to look in helicopter sections for that Try searching by the .7 mod terms instead of the 36 pitch. You might find something a bit easier.

.7 mod is correct for 36 pitch.

This is turning into a huge pain in the butt.... closest I've found are pinions with 5mm inner diameter which is too big.... time to ask the car / heli guys!

Try the Duratrax Vendetta lineup. There are several sizes in that line up from about 9T to 16T; so, you've got some options. They worked on my Bulldog with steel gears.

Depending on how much trouble it is the find some gears you might want to consider just moving over to a standard 3.175mm shaft. It might be easier to find the pinions in that size.
