Default Munster 2014 report

Once again I attended the Panzermuseum Munster to display once again with RAG, only this time with 3 other enthusiasts, Steve Norris a fellow UKTC member along with Tim (swamprat) and Martin (Ex-pat tanker) from RC Tank Regiment, our trip started at 02:00 earlier for Tim as he had to drive from Manchester to Solihull, just in case any are thinking of attending this event in future the round trip from Solihull including an overnight stop in Cologne then a detour to Baugnez http://www.baugnez44.be/en/presentation/museum.htm to visit the Malmendy museum and memorial then on to La Gleize and Stoumont this was a total of 1500 miles and used £200 in Diesel plus the crossing on Eurotunnel, the trip from my house to Munster was 12 hours this included the pickups and traffic the only problem we had was Monday morning when I realised that I had left my laptop in the museum though since then this has been returned.
As usual RAG demonstrated models in 1/16, 1/10, 1/8, 1/6, 1/5 and finally ¼, there main scale is 1/8 and most of these are modern Bundeswehr.
As usual we slept in the Nato base close to Munster were we enjoyed as much beer and food as we could manage.
After the closure of the museum in Koblenz the collection has been broken up some of the vehicles are now in Munster some in storage at Panzer Lehr waiting for an extension to the museum and some have come to Bovington though I don’t know if they are yet on display.
It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with Steve, Martin and Tim, I hope they enjoyed the experience.

Just a few pictures I will post a link to the RAG page with more.

This is the link to the official report from RAG http://www.rag-modellbau.de/index.ph...llbautage-2014

And the link to the photo album http://www.rag-modellbau.de/FotoAlbe...bum/index.html

This is a quick translation of what is said in the first link.

My goodness, Pentecost always comes so quickly. Every year! Also this year!
On Whit Saturday, June 7 and Pentecost Sunday, June 8, 2014 so the 18th International Model Exhibition was held in Munster in the German Tank Museum.
For this is indeed the museum halls. The event is organized by Torsten and Siggi. This is a Herculean task! But the concept is and the distribution of space, even if it sometimes varies, get the two in the handle.
How then could the exhibitors arrive and set up their booths.

Of course - how many years - RAG military model was also there.
All participants from the RAG, who had already time on Friday, were arrived at noon to set up the large number of tables and perform other tasks that are necessary to present a reasonable level. 1:16 and 1:10 - - After the models of the smaller scales were placed on the tables. Here then stood RC Models and "construction sites" together for viewing for visitors.

RAG table models

The slightly larger models in the M 1:8 we introduced back into the "Guderian" corner, next to the PZI. Was a very nice crowd.

RAG models 1:8

At an elevated position we had built up a large table for Herbert, on which he always sets up his workshop. But this time was not because he was convinced with gentle pressure, that he so much prefers to host the screenings on our model terrain.

Our "of drafted" Moderator reward, he was allowed to hold two very Pretty beauty queens in the arm, who supported us in the lottery for the benefit of the German Children's Cancer Aid with her Bezaubernen smile.

In addition to Herbert's orphaned workshop table Tamara had built a small table on which they (all of course with military motifs) sold small keychains and small pins with the arms of RAG. The proceeds of the German Children's Cancer Aid come to good, for which we collect through the year so money is then passed to the model exhibition at PzPiBtl in Minden wood in the form of a donation check in September (20-21.).

But first we are in the tank museum.
After we had found our work for good and everything was in its place, we went to the museum closes to our quarters, where we had a barbecue, cozy drinks sat together and felt millions of mosquitoes to blood tap were available.

barbecue

Of course, again, some of us were quite clever and had thereby antidote. Cowards!
On Saturday morning, the first day of the exhibition, we went for a leisurely breakfast trüppchenweise in the museum, where in the meantime, had parked his models on the places put the rest of us, who could now come first.
Overall, our team are less than 30 people was strong!

At 09.30 clock, there was a short speech by the organizers as well as the museum director and at 10.00 clock RAG gathered on the terrain model to a final briefing and instruction.

Organizers and museum management

Meanwhile, Bana had already set up the PA system that had us as always asked the teaching collection of the armored troops school.

Now every once in its role - especially at the screenings - had been briefed, we still had a little breather.

At 11.00 clock there should be the first demonstration, then at 13.00 clock and at 16.00 clock.
The first show was for us, as always, an easy warm, warm-up and detection of errors. And as always, we worked in the scales from bottom to top: Okay, first the scale of 1:16, where we have the models of Axel that he has built in the M 1:14 with pure cheating. There were again a lot of interesting models - built from the box and refined or build entirely himself - there.

models 1:16

The later could then also be assessed on the tables, which the visitors have also noticed. Extends the range was by the models of three British guests, the Mark (our English member) from Birmingham (!) Had brought.

This was followed by models in 1:10. Since we had, inter alia, Flakpanzer the cheetah, the StuG III, an M 26 Pershing, a Radspähpanzer and a panther to offer.

All the previously described models cruised without a concept, but moderated by Herbert, through the grounds.

That all changed now with the models in M 1:8. Here was, as it did in previous years, driven by a prescribed pattern. In this, as it did last year, we had some changed the concept. Always tailored to the existing models. So we had this year, unfortunately, the use of Bergepanzer waive 3 "Buffalo", because the driver is seriously ill.

As a replacement we took - small break in style, because not Bw - the recovery tank Panther carried out his work with flying colors.

Bergepanther

However, we had skipped a program point: With the "buffalo" we would have liked to show the loading of a "weasel" on the MAN trucks. This may be the lack of Bergepanther crane unfortunately not.
Well, you can not have everything. But it was also so very interesting.
The demonstration consisted of a reconnaissance together by two heavy armored troops and a convoy.

In this demonstration, which was again very knowledgeable and clearly moderated by Herbert, the capabilities and possibilities of the models could be shown.
Of course, the behavior of the forces deployed was shown as military. We do not want the criticism of experts to challenge a wink.
But in the foreground was parading the models. And were quite demanded.

Back and forth, into the cover, get out of the cover and into the next position.
The lead tank was galloping up and towed with the Bergepanther. As a cover, a curtain of mist was generated.

Then there was a barrage of artillery, then advancing, bridge and translate over the water, so that the convoy could drive standing by.

To athletic performance was our "Steel Panther" forced because he had almost simultaneously play multiple roles: He had to tow with his Bergepanther Leo, then fly a small Quattrocopter as a drone reconnaissance, then support his tank destroyer artillery and most recently with his bridge Layer the bridge embarrassed. The boy had to be really fast on your feet! Well done, Michael!

The enemy fire and the impacts of artillery were represented by detonating New Year's firecrackers. The use of firecrackers and firing with the space of ammunition has been expressly approved by the city of Munster! Laying the spark plug wire and ignition at the right time was the job of Michael M., the most highly chased the small blast accurate to the second!

During one or two performances a guest flyer (Martin) flew with a similarly small but equipped with a camera Quadrocopter above it all his rounds and took pictures.

Now it went up in scale. Here in 1:6 we had a Tiger I, a Willys Jeep and a VW Schwimmwagen.

Now I know not whether Luna has driven his Schwimmwagen in the newly expanded pond. Swimming is the part anyway.

The next stage presented the Jagdpanther in 1:5 represents a exceptionally sturdy vehicle that is also not spared from its builder and driver. Since Michael has delivered a masterpiece.

And to top it off the show, the two Tiger I in the scale 1:4.
Genuine heavy weights with 350 and 450 Kg!

The conclusion again made the rescue attempt (which was always successful so far).
Here the Bergepanther is used in 1:8 M to pull the "thick" Tiger I (450 kg) in 1:4 M with its winch over the place.
Again and again, impressive and also usually greatly appreciated by the visitors with applause.

This went on for two days now in stifling heat. The sun shone so on our premises. Well, there are some trees there. And at least most visitors can stand in the shadows. But where the actors with their transmitters are available, from the bright wall of the hall, there were guaranteed at 40 ° C. Thus, the statement of the museum director.

Museum Hall

But only two RAG members sought to suit relief, all the other kept on her black jumpsuit. But I think that with so many but came up longing for a tropical suit. However, this has the good humor and dedication of done any harm.

In any case, we have brought the two days well and with panache behind us. Failures were not reported to. Neither staff nor in the models.

Perhaps it was partly due to the good nutrition. We have two club chefs Tamara and Marc. The two have conjured us to grill still a great dessert of Belgian chocolate and breakfast on Sunday morning an extensive buffet. For this, the tables were set properly stylish. Baskets of bread and hard boiled eggs!
That was really great, thanks to you both.

I must also thank our female members (inside), who "pack" cleaned up after the abandonment of the museum our quarters and the economy rooms and cleaned.

And one special person I have to emphasize: Bana had brought with him as a guest driver with him the visiting Australians, we 1:8 softcover immediately in our presentation of the models. He drove the observation tank Hotchkiss, as he had done all his life nothing else. That even with knowledgeable background. Lastly, it was his experience as a former sergeant in the Australian Army.

Thank you, Graham!

As a thank you for the welcome Graham RAG given a coat of arms of his regiment.

At the end of each event day we met on the premises for a group photo. On the first night Christian had work off some program points: First, he presented various RAG members of certificates for many years of membership.

group photo

Then got Andre '(our bonsai) a patch with "Seahorse". He had earned himself by trying to teach his desert buggy swimming.
However, it was to hear from his wife that he has by no means put all tests. The man can be helped: In our pond expansion is enough space for the embedding of models available.

And our chef Marc got a chef's hat with camouflage pattern, which of course he must also bear in the kitchen. You never know ....

Our cook

The end of this, like any event, is routine. Clearing tables and taken away.
Invite models, if one ever comes into the throng of his car and the field house, which we were allowed to use, clean.

Oh, and then this:

We had, as in previous years, again a daily raffle sponsored model packs, books, models, and many other things .. Ralf sat all the time behind the table and sold and our laser-cut steel Panther tank silhouettes.

raffle

The hall filled on both days at 15.00 clock for the Sweepstakes.

raffle

On Sunday had Ralf and Andreas in the draw the support of two beauty queens from the region!
The proceeds from the raffles (with which we are very satisfied), as always, without deduction in the donation of the RAG for the German Children's Cancer Aid a.

The proceeds amounted to over € 980.00 uro

Finally, if anyone is interested: On both days, a total of 3,300 visitors were in the museum. About 300 less than last year. But that was probably the weather.

Well, that's it for this year.
The next feast of Pentecost will come. And again determined so fast!

And here there is a photo album:
