Default Leopard with Gearbox from Hobbyraw( video)

I shot some video of the Leopard 2 with the new gear box that has bearings on every shaft and some hi torque motors. This tank has metal wheels, suspension and tracks, Weighs in 12+ pounds.

Just an RX 18 powering this, and the video proves the much maligned RX18 can handle a lot.

Of course a DBC3 and Benedini TBS.

The elevation on the barrel is controlled by a slow speed servo tied into a proportional channel 5 on my radio giving me fully independent control of the elevation.

This tank has just graduated out of the garage and is on trails to do a shakeout on the mechanicals prior to a full Canadianazation treatment.

Wow, she really rips. It's interesting to watch a HL-standard ratio rip around and to spins in grass so easily. I'm impressed.

Considering these for my recent Pershing build. With the smaller sprocket it might not be 'too' fast.

Yes Sir!

Excellent Video!

Thought noticed a Track Pad or Two go missing...

Do you mind me asking which Road Wheels and Track you are using?
I'm currently gathering the Kit to upgrade my HL Leo 2A6...

Best Regards,

-gus

The Recoil is a reworked Heng Long

Metal wheels and suspension came from Hobbyraw, Mato metal track

The "Missing" track pads are metal traction inserts, unless I lost a couple of rubber pads without knowing

Cheers

Oh Heck...
When it said you "Lost a Shoe", I thought you Lost a Track Pad (Shoe) and we're pointing it out...

I Apologize for my Confusion...

Thank You for the Info on your Running Gear.

The track came out over the sproket when I was exercising the tight turns. That was my "shoe" comment, It was a little confusing, no need to apologize.

Looks awesome! Appears to have some good low-end control, too. Try it on any steep hills yet?

Nice video. Watching your video make me want to runs my Bulldog on grass. I'll update if mine go up in smoke again, pun intended.

Thumbs up

Wow, it most certainly passed my cringe factor test! Sounds just right Dan.

Now after seeing metal road wheels with arms and a real nice sounding Leopard I want mine to get into action and blow the dust off the box! LOL

That thing rips around! Hope it didn't tear up your grass too much.

I saw the other thread about it, this tank is coming out nicely.

I like how quiet the gearboxes are in the video. It seems in most videos all you can hear are the gearboxes. In your video one can actually hear the treads and running gear!!!!

Yes these are darn fine gear boxes. They glide along. The bearings make all the difference. How many times have I said I like these. LOL. Yes I am a fanboy of these. Very nice surprise.

Hi Dan,

I agree with you. I have the same gears from Hobby raw in my WIP HL Tiger 1 and I love them. Are you using the ZTZ version on your leopard since I haven't seen one specifically for it? If so, did you have to modify the mounting on the leopard to fit them? I am thinking of getting a leo myself.

Thanks.
