New transmission from ETO Armor

A few more photos of the ongoing work on the new transmission systems from ETO. So far Tiger 1, King Tiger, Sherman, Panther and KV1/KV2 are finished. Thursday we go to machine shop to drop off the drawings for hole placement in the trans mounts and get a few other odds and ends made for the systems.
JS 2 is going to be fun. As any of you who have one know the stock TU's sit at an angle for correct alignment with the final drive shaft exit from the hull. We might have to get creative on that system but we will get it done.

The system will have the final test in about 10 days. We will do a Tank Day at 35th Battery Museum during which children will be invited to run the tanks. If they survive that, which I have no doubts they will, then we have a winner here. I will of course post photos of that event.
Cleong, very true but you are correct, no dust or dirt can get in the reduction systems.

Yes, Sollie, it should. That is from an early Tamiya King Tiger? Videos are VCO's department, she's the expert on them. I'll get her on it early next week and see what we can do.

I would Guess so, just a question about getting parts for a TU like that over @ World RC Tank Community on facebook from a user . I mentioned the up comming TU's from you instead of searching for parts for the old one

Have him get the measurements of the width of the output shafts end to end and also the width of the hull inside. It does look like the original KT set up and if so then yes, my KT system will fit.

Update transmissions
It's been a few days since an update. I now have 11 transmissions built. Machine shop has the mounts for drilling for the standoffs and to make one other little oddball part we both forgot in the production drawings stage. I expect both batches to be ready early next week. I have also told machine shop to make another batch of all the machined parts, this because the interest in this system is pretty strong. I have also ordered all the other goodies from my suppliers in EU.
Part of the new batch of machinings is for Panther/Jagdpanther. Since the nose of that tank is pretty crowded we had to modify a couple parts to keep to my goal of everything bolts in with just two additional holes drilled in the hull floor.
Enjoy the new photos. There will be more coming as the new parts are delivered and all the tanks will be photoed with the system installed. JS is still a head scratcher but we'll lick that little problem also.

Sollie, I expect the special Panther/Jagdpanther parts shortly. The moment I have them in my hands a Panther will be tested. The modification to my system involves the final drive and is quite simple for the machine shop to do, it's just them finding the time to do it and make enough of the modified parts for me to get to work on Panther.

Robert whenever you start looking at the HL / Taigen side of things I suppose they would fit both versions. .say, KV-1 HL plastic and Taigen metal lower hull.. the spacing is the same so the mounting plates on your gearboxes should fit both, perhaps?
Anyway I bet a lot of Taigen Tiger, KV-1, KT and Panther (Torro metal) owners would love these (including me)

my tamiya tiger 1 could use this i am afraid to really drive mine hard as the stock gearboxes can fail rather easily sometimes. when will eto have these available?. do you guys have tiger 1 metal tracks as well?

Strato, when I'm finished with the Tammy line I'll work on the others.
crxsidan, I expect to have the mounts in my hands later this week. Once I have them we're in business and I'll announce here.

I don't think a lot of HL owners will put a tranny in their tank that cost's about 3 times as much as the tank. Maybe a fully customized HL tank that Tamiya or Taigen doesn't make.
I plan on getting a few of these monsters for my tanks that REALLY need them.

Dan. After I get things up and rolling I will experiment with different bevel gears but one has to be careful as the geometry of the system is designed for 1:1 on the final drive shafts . However, there is a different path I'm taking on that. If its successful it will be announced.

They probably have grunt, and this torque will carry through all ranges..

Hence my different tack. As they are they are stump pullers and quite robust. The acid test will be this weekend. We will take one KT with the system to Battery Museum for Tank Day and let the children have at it. If they can't hurt it driving through all kinds of terrain no one can. Fortunately the driving area is far enough from the cliffs they can't drive it in to the sea.
