Default Different sized IR reciever bulbs???

I was painting some Battle units tonight and noticed something different.
Has anyone noticed the difference in the range of taking a hit from the small style to the larger bulb?

It's not the bulb size, but the specifications of the sensitivity, range and coverage angle.

Different manufacturers commonly have packages that look different but perform the same.

I know we do a tech inspect for the ACE events and one thing checked is the hit @ X distance from 90^ and 45^. I checked the PN on the units and old style (small) is tmy3720 new is tmy3721a. Supply changes who knows. I then looked and the housings and most of what I have (12) have the same size hole from the reflector to the bulb. 2 of the 3720 units had a smaller diameter hole than the rest.

So if the sensitivity is equal between the bulb, then is there some reasoning in presuming that the smaller hole units are ever so less sensitive. It is probably minor, but at extreme range it might be something. OH and the small hole units are circa 2005 ish. I got these when I bought old used tanks.

I might just have to use those like wearing a lucky T-shirt or hat. LOL
