Is there a way to attach the antennae for the Tamiya tanks without soldering?
I am interested in possibly getting a Tamiya tank, but I'm concerned about using solder to attach the antennae to the receiver. Is there a safer way to attach without having to solder it?

I've never tried it, but I've heard they make a glue (I think it's kind of like a paste) that conducts electricity when dry. Do you know anyone that can solder (that you trust)?

Wrap the receiver wire like this:

Unless you are buying direct from Japan, a Tamiya does not come with the Tx/Rx so it's completely up to you what you choose to do, but as Chiefsonn stated, you're going to have to look hard for a hobby grade system that isn't 2.4, which needs no external antenna. The small strip is a tuned antenna and the signal will penetrate the hull. You actually can't extend a 2.4 antenna that it's factory length.
If for some reason, you are using an older 27 or 75 crstal based system (I do for two of mine), the antenna is the same as an old TV, so any connection will be fine, you can simply wrap the wire around the based and cover with tape if you choose. On my Tiger, I have a brass tube in hull that is connected to the Rx and I just drop a brass antenna into it so it's removeable. On my Pz IV, I have so much brass on the outside, the Rx just's connects to the framework as the antenna.
Just out of curiosity, what is the opposition to soldering? You can get lead free if that's a concern, but honestly, this hobby requires quite a bit of maintenance and tinkering and you will need to fix things along the way. Soldering is an important skill, whether it's to change out a motor, LED or just reattach a wire.

Jeff, how old is that Tammy M4?
Mine is about 12 years old and the speaker housing is much larger, overhanging the sponsons, tapered like the rear deck. Much more room in yours, I'm just curious if they redesigned it over the years.
