I built a tank bridge. (The movie)
I think I went and built a scale bridge too far. It is a scale 100 foot span, over a live stream, with a scale 16 foot wide roadway. It spans a scale “canyon” too steep for scale RC tanks to cross. It is the only stream crossing for over a scale mile in each direction. I think I’ve gone scale crazy.
Really, it just spans an irrigation ditch in a vacant lot full of weeds. It is strong enough for a person to walk across, because it is built of leftover materials from a home remodel. It is weatherproof enough that I will leave it out all winter.
For the techno dudes who want specs… it is made from a laminated wood beam and plastic decking. (An 11 7/8” LVL and TREX decking) Its 16 ˝” outside to outside and 79” long. The sides are held on with lag screws and deck screws. Its load limit is 380 lbs.

Now I gotta ask after seeing so many of your videos. Do you drive by camera or just normally?

Panther F... I drive normally, the camera just records movies.
edoubleaz... I know, down to 15 deg. F so far and it will get much colder soon. I thought about being there for your battle on Sat. but could not pull it off.

That's a really nice bridge, but it's too modern and well built. Whatcha need is a Bailey Bridge, You could build one this winter when you get snowed in. Or maybe a pontoon bridge for the spring snow melt and pond crossing.

"That's a really nice bridge, but it's too modern and well built" - he's driving a Leopard 2 - a modern tank - so it's a perfect fit.
Besides a Bailey bridge is super fiddly with that skeletal framework, also not sure if it's capable of handling a 60 tonne Leopard?

Ya got me !!! I was too quick to post the photos of WW II Tanks on a basic Bailey. But I respectfully disagree that the Bailey bridges were flimsy when the skeleton sections were ganged up in multiple widths and heights. The really modern ones are rated at 80 tons, judging by the yellow load limit disk on the triple/triple bridge in one of the photos. I may build a model of one someday when I have a year or two available.
What tank is in the 2nd photo???

A Bailey bridge can hold heavy loads. The State used a Bailey bridge to temporary detour traffic while they replaced the concrete bridge over the river in our town. I could hold two semi trucks at once. That had to be around 100 tons. It was up for over a year while they demo'ed the old bridge and built a new one.

YES! That's why I built it. My son and I have already spent a lot of time together going over strategy. Good father / son time.
When we set it in place I imagined it as a crossing of the Rhine... but now it looks more like Finland.
That's the scale "forest" I made the Leo and Panther tree smashing movies in. It's gone now, buried under snow.

what tank you are running? it is very smooth video for a tracked vehicle on offroad
I am a airplane fpv guy, definitely want to switch to tank fpv. interested to see what you are running.

The tank in the movie is a Tamiya Leopard 2A6. It is a smooth runner but I also built a custom camera mount with foam rubber and styrene outriggers for stability. It sits in the loaders hatch to give a crew members perspective.

WOW! That's very cool. Is it a working drawbridge?
I have been looking at Bailey Bridge plans, Rex challenged me to scratch build one. If I do it right I could use it for battles outdoors and also a shelf to display tanks inside.
