Default HL Leopard vs HL Abrams Pictures included

Purchased a Heng Long Leopard for Christmas for my father who has been lusting for the Tamiya for years but I don't love him that much! We were so impressed and had so much fun with it I got a HL Abrams so we can pelt each other with BBs. The Leopard came from Matomart and the Abrams from IMEX both were great to deal with so kudos to them.

Initial things we noticed:
1. The Leopard is definitely faster in a straight line has the Mato pot metal gearbox and metal tracks.
2. The Abrams is less noisy when running even when the Leo was on plastic tracks and low speed maneuvering is easier, guessing these are both due to the 4:1 full bearing gearbox in the Abrams.
3. The Abrams smoke is much better.
4. The Abrams shoots BBs harder.

Haven't put all the parts(most are on) or decals on the Abrams been having too much fun running it at the moment but here is a couple of side by side pics:

Leo 2 A6 has a longer gun tube. The L/55 Gun is an upgrade to the L/44 that is the same as the M256 in M1/ Leo 2A4-5 and now 2a7 tanks. Basically same gun, but 4 feet longer.

Nope, still the same sounds from before.

I'm glad you liked the gearboxes, they are a large improvement from the last generation. It is amazing what a few extra bearings will do!

leopard such a big head, but for what? Can anyone analyze why they build such a big head, if my view it is much easier to be spotted with such a large part over the top

Your answer can be partly answered by comparing the turrets of a 2A4 and a 2A6 Leopard - the wedge shaped pieces are additional spaced armour.

The picture makes it seem more extreme than it is but it is shorter on the model ~1.5" measure from turrent to end of barrel

Forward slow to full, then super spin one way then the other, finally reverse slow to full speed.

Thanks! Very cool. It looks to be running very smooth. The noise is expected of high ratio gearbox.

It seems to run quieter than the pot metal gearbox that the Leo came with that I'm assuming is a 3:1 due to the speed difference between the two tanks.

Is that ceramic grease on the gears? Did you add that yourself? If so, is that the best grease for these gearboxes, Thanks!
