Tamiya m50 sherman
Thanks to a kind member of this forum I now have a gutted tamiya Sherman. I'm shortly ordering a 47degree small hatch resin hull off nick Aguilar and then I'll be ready to rock and roll.
This is the aspiration:
This will be running parallel to a couple of other post war shermans

Many thanks to woz who's wonderful parts turned up today!
I've decided to try and get the turret built so I'm ahead when the nick Aguilar hulls arrive. On this I'm using the Tamiya turret but as woz has built the parts for henglong I might get one of these as the conversion will be easier.
Anyway. I've added the bustle extension, built up the mantlet and got it pivoting for the elevation. I've also started soldering up periscope guard, added a split hatch and added the filler to blend the turret bits together.

More progress, I've finished the servo recoil and elevation and fitted a tbu. Its quite a tight fit in the turret but got everything in. I had to cut back the barrel as it turned out when it was elevated it hit the back of the turret ring!
Woz has very kindly printed me some smoke launchers so they will be going on soon too.

Hey, yes it is printed. The only downside is the texture the printing gives, sort of woven pattern. I've lightly sanded and then given serveral coats of Mr surfacer. Hopefully when painted the texture will be gone! Details decent although I might replace the bolt detail. All the covers are spoken for I'm afraid. However I'm sure nick could make you some.

I know it's a bit late, but you should look at acetone vaporing 3D printed parts. It essentially 'melts' the lines together to make it smooth. It's obviously dangerous if done wrong, but there are tutorials on Youtube on how to do it safely.

[QUOTE=edoubleaz;11990530]I have just enough spare parts in my stash for an M-50, hmmm, maybe even the Chilean M-60 with Hyper Velocity Gun..... Decisions...Decisions....[/Q
I vote for the Chilean M-60.

Finally managed to pull my finger out and get some more done on this, been gathering parts to finish it (new periscope guards and oils for the bogies). Something that was greatly lackzing was the big whip antenna IDF tanks seem to employ. Made some out of a thin spring and the Tamiya part off the e sprue.
I'm still not 100% happy with the cupola so may replace with the Mato metal one, or build up another I got from Woz.

Well I'm try to pull my finger out to get this project moving. I was never happy with the inaccurate turret bustle, it was straight where it should be rounded. Other things done are adding periscope guards, I've rebuilt the hatch so the periscope spins now. I've added the schumo oilers too. I've also done some work on the muzzle break and added some
welds.

Tom, were the storage boxes 3D prints as well? Also is the engine deck the same for the M50 and M51?
Thanks, Rudy
