Beautiful. Just beautiful. What's the little drum on the front? Almost looks like a pony keg. I'm thinking oil? Maybe?

Please forgive the newbie question, but how do you make it post big photos like that?

That's winner!

One of the best FFs I've seen. Superb.

Now just drive it around a bit to get some dust on it.

Looks great! Nice build log, too. Where did you find the upper hull diagrams that show the different versions?

Thanks, thought I'd gone a bit crazy with the cast effect but it turned out alright in the end.

@philipat not sure where it came from, just one of the many images I picked up off the net.

That 3-piece transmission cover really came out nice!

Gary,

To insert the big pictures you'll have to host the images on an external image site. Popular ones are Photobucket and Imgur, they'll allow you to upload pictures from your computer to their server and will provide you with a direct link to the image. Something like "www.examplesite.com/abunchofnumbers/myimage.jpg"

You can then insert the images in your RCU post using the "Insert Image" button in the reply box toolbar, you'll see a tab for inserting a web URL in the window that pops up. I generally prefer using this method because of the ancient RCU image upload system. The RCU image servers seem to be powered by potatoes.

Where did you get the metal bogies?
did you intend to install the tracks opposing each other or is that an accident?

Philipat:

Those images are from the Finescale Modeler's Guide to the Sherman. I managed to lay my hands on a copy a while back, and recognise them. I don't think FSM would want me to scan and upload the images from the mag, with hull types, track types, etc... was pretty good, except it left out a chapter on the turrets. *sigh*

Did a quick search for that to see if I could get ordering info...couldn't find it. I did find a link with a small article: http://www.finescale.com/en/Online%2...specifics.aspx. Was the Guide part of a regular issue or a special issue? Too bad about omitting the turret info. Maybe it was in a subsequent month?

Hi,

Very Nice -

I saw this posted on Amazon, is this the book you used?

http://www.amazon.com/Building-Detai.../dp/0890247897

There is a link on the FSM site to the February 2002 issue, including a "Sherman Guide"
