Blue Star Models PE T-34 Bedspring Armor Review and GIVE AWAY!!
That's right, I'm gonna review it and give it away. To be in the drawing you must post on THIS thread. There will be two exceptions, I'm adding two names myself, and those are the names of Erik Edwards and Kevin Grannum. Other than those two guys, if your screen name isn't seen in this thread, you're out.
Here's the box art that comes with the kit.
If you want to buy a set you email Dave at
[email protected]
The kit is $40 plus postage (I think about $5 or $6 in the U.S.).
I'll do the drawing Tuesday when I get home from work (2/24/15) and I'll post the video of the drawing with the winner that night.
I really like this kit, and if I ever get another T-34 that I don't dress up for one of Uncle Joe's parades I'll most likely add this kit to the tank.
I still haven't received the second set of resin drums to review, but I'll look into that and post my findings here, hopefully with a tentative date for the review.
Don't forget that contestants outside the U.S. may have to pay postage if they win, but as I said in the video, if I can mail it for less than $10US I'll cover the cost.
I feel it's very necessary that I am totally honest in these reviews, so while I have come to like Dave very much and I think he's a really great guy, he's not the fastest at mailing stuff. He always gets it done and so far he's never broken his word to me, but it does sometimes take him a while to get around to doing stuff. That's not a criticism, just a fact that should be included in an honest product review. I'm hoping he'll give quicker shipping to paying customers. I don't complain as I'm not laying out any money, so if one of you buys anything from him it would be great if you could do a review and cover the time span for shipping. Of course, Dave will be reading this so I'm sure he's already thinking about quick service for those of you laying out your hard earned coin of the realm.

Erik, I also sent you a video in a PM, too. I was paintin' fuel drums and wondered if you ever painted the bare ones.
I was just in Airbrushler's thread and it occurred to me that I know he's in Canada and that led me to, "Hey, I know a guy that goes to Windsor all the time, and I would even trust him with this!" so the free postage to the winner is definitely a go for Canada. Might take a few days longer to get it in the post, but hey, it's free shipping! I love free shipping! That's a bonus win!!

Three pieces of info to pass along as Dave has seen the thread and mentioned it to me.
First, this photo etch kit was specifically designed for the Trumpeter kit, so you may find minor variations in fit, depending on what tank you have but it should fit any accurate T-34. Second, the PE will be easier to work with if annealed, and third, even though they are called "bedspring", this was actually a kit mass produced for and issued to the Red Army in WWII. That was a little piece of history that was new to me, so thanks for that, Dave.

as always - great review.
please count me in the draw - i have a t34.
i never thought that bedsprings were produced for red army tanks - i thought they were just pillaged/salvaged from the ruins.
