Looks good.

And looks like you won't be getting your mantle this weekend sorry! Derek has family issues and won't be attending battle day... What else have you got planned to change on it to make it an early G?

The debris guard should be removed as well. Don't install the rain guard too for the early G.

BTW Greg, is that offer of making up some vinyl stencils for me still open? I finally settled on which tanks I want to do and just started on priming them this afternoon...

The "Rain Guard" was placed over the drivers periscope on later G's. Not to be confused with the Debris Guard.

That guard also appears on at least some of Peipers tanks - tho judging from a couple of pictures of 202, it looks like something the locals ripped off soon after the battle along with the rest of the loose sheet metal, so its hard to say how many had them...

I can see maybe a Panther F prototype using the existing Panther G, otherwise a complete new lower hull would be needed.
NO ONE will EVER get a true Panther II correct.

Pretty sure you would need the steel wheels too. Since the F was a prototype (some say it served but idk) I'm sure the Panther G hull would work fine. Dang, now I want another Panther....

Some of the late Panther G's had the steel road wheels.

okay...
For the G you can keep the existing HL ones if you are not fussed about accuracy.
If you want to be a little more fussy then you should take the 2 big pipes off of a Pantiger exhaust (or make your own - I'm lazy and had a few laying around), cut the HL pipes off from the boxes, and glue the pantiger ones in their place. You'll then need a thin sheet metal cover over the pipe (which hides what is left of the Pantigers jack bracket).
Should look something like this:

I'll post pictures of mine tonight...
