Default Heng Long 1/16 T90 tank, the latest news

The latest HL 1/16 T90 tank pictures from Heng Long's booth in the trade show Hobby Expo China 2015 (Beijing).
Source: http://bbs.5imx.com/bbs/forum.php?mo...ad&tid=1071750

According to the original poster, HL has received 3000 orders from Russia. So based on the volume of the order, it
appears that T90's release date should be on schedule (within 2015). The op praises a lot on the details of the tank,
and says T90 has more accessories than Leopard 2A6 and M1 Abrams. However, he is a bit concerned on the
durability of T90's plastic tracks.

The op also inquired about the Challenger 2: a HL representative said the delay is because they received many
feedbacks saying Challenger 2 looks ugly (no offense). But he thinks that this is just a lousy excuse.

Regarding the issue of HL M1 Abrams' lower hull, the op says HL is aware of the issue from the beginning
of the project. HL may revise the design, but they don't promise.

Oh no... another MUST HAVE and a first time I am hearing of this! Now I know I shouldn't have bought the ZTZ-99 because also a static T-72 is coming from Trumpeter.

Anyway... thanks for the great news!

I have the Trumpeter Panzer IV H/J. It is well worth the cost. The detail is amazing. I got it from Tower Hobbies when they had free shipping. Here is the link as they still have the best price for U.S. buyers.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXESDA&P=ML

I attached some close up detail shots of the fire extinguisher, notek light base, tracks, and front upper hull plate to show how good the detail is.
It has three barrel choices, solid metal, drilled through metal and plastic. It also comes with sheets of Photo Etch.

I don't know how well the T-90 does in an actual shooting fight, but it sure looks badass with all that stuff hanging off the turret. It reminds me of the Macross Destroids back in the day. I want one.

Very excited for this. HL have clearly upped their game with the level of details on this one. Something for my M60 to shoot at!

From what I can learn from the thread, that's MATO's M36 turret. Not sure about its release date.
When asked if the turret is compatible with HL's Sherman, the MATO representative was not sure.

There's a pic of metal tracks, sprockets, and idlers further down the page on the link.

Could someone elaborate on the Abrams chassis problem? I was thinking of getting one of these in the near future, so i'm curious about issues.

Wow! A 1/16 Scale T90 and later a 1/16 T72??

I CAN'T Wait! And That T-72 WON'T Stay "Static Scale" for Long When I get My Hot Little Hands on It!

Crap. I was hoping to keep my motorpool in the low numbers. Looks like this might be my first modern tank.

Do you also have a Tammy PIV?
If yes, then how does the scale of the Trumpeter PIV compare w/ the Tamiya?

DaveBcool, I do have a Tamiya 1/16 Panzer IV. I have not compared the Tamiya to the Trumpeter yet. I am in the middle of rearranging my basement, where all my model stash and build area is. As soon as I have that squared away, hopefully this weekend, I will take a look and let you know what I find. Even if I don’t get the basement done I will try and locate the Tamiya Panzer IV in the stash pile. It is not in its original Tamiya box so it is hard to find in the pile the way I have things stacked up. That is why I am doing a major reorg of the space. I may end up using details from both to make a late Panzer IV H or Early J. The detail on the Trupeter kit is just crazy cool. I hope they match up!!!

That's kinda what I was thinking too, to mash them up and make an H.
Also to maybe use the Schurzen as a template for making a more durable set.

It would be easy to replace the plasitc schurzen hangers and plates with brass for sure. I took a set of 1/35 PE Stug III G schurzen and scaled them up to 1/16 for my HL Stug. I think the Tamiya and Trumpeter are going to be real close. I will know something this weekend and pass it on to you.

I appreciate that, thank you.
I knew I could not be the only one thinking about this mash-up.

The Challenger is hardly an ugly tank. It is actually a very interesting design if you ask me. Most Russian armor have the same very basic form and style. I love the fact the hobby is starting to catch up to modern times.
Looks like the cold war is going to be heating up. LOL
