Hi
Worked on the aerial bases, the NZ vehicles were fitted with US MX-6707 aerial bases, unlike the brit vehicles. I've previously made these for my M113 APC so copied the pattern - component parts, vs assembled, Bic ballpoint pen gave it's all.... this is how it should look Also made 2nd set of hooks - upward pointing to create cleats wire fitted & epoxied in placeAlso noticed that there should be footman loops on the turret stowage box, so dremelled off the printed ones, drilled a hole, pinned the brass spacing template in place, drilled the 2nd hole result, other side Made footman loops out of 26/6 staples, splayed interior tails to keep them in place - pliers hold spacer (large staple) loops in place & aerial bases fitted Hooks & cleats in view Also added the 4 barrel smoke grenade launchers
Ordered some elastic thread, 1.00mm & 0.5mm which is normally used for bead necklaces etc Holed the 'canvas' cover - actually Pertex 6, a nylon, with very fine grain - by heating one of the track pin nails Then proceeded with threading the cord thru the eyelets with tweezers, hooking up the cord & tying off on the cleats. Prior to that, I'd tried to tie a loop in the end of the cord, even made a couple of tools to assist, but was not happening
I'd noticed that the barrel of the 76mm would slide back into the turret at every opportunity, being very loose in the support barrel. Took a small piece of non stick foil, doubled it over - non stick to the inside, bent it round the 76mm, then slid it between the 76mm & support barrel, effectively shimming the barrel. was a 5 min job, didn't take pics.

Hi Moo
Thanks, thought it worked out quite nicely.
Hi Dragon
Cool. Had thought the labelling was a tad optimistic, assuming 24 inches at the shoulders, 10 feet across = 5 person.
Was thinking the bivy for Scorpion might be shorter in both height & length, as pics show the top of the bivy level with the upper hull/base of the turret? I'm certain that is less than 6 feet?
Didn't achieve anything worth mentioning progress wise overnite.

Had a look through my books & found this pic Based on this, I estimate the height of the Bivy - 4ft, width 6 ft, length 8 ft (assumes 3 X 24 in shoulders + 24 inches extra, outside wall height 1.5 ft. Does that sound reasonable?
Did a little work on the pioneer tools, using a HL M41 set - have a few extra sets, thanks to Erik - modified to resemble the printed ones. The T handle on the spade is a section of sprue

I've been following this one close I have to say I'm quite impressed, especially with the battery cover. That was a great idea and implementation. In fact, I might add a vBat display on my next build. Next time I talk to Aaron (RC Adventures) I'll have to bring it up. He really is a cool guy. I saw him at RCX recently with one of the biggest watches ever lol! He really likes military items, I know he has a lot.

Found the answer to the CVRT tent, or more correctly " Shelter Penthouse Crew Accommodation Fox/Scorpion " NSN 8340 99 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161731671497 -
height 4ft 8 in (56in), low end height 20 in, Floor 7ft 4 in (88in) X 7ft (84 in) that translates to 1/16th 139.7mm length, 88.9mm height, 133.35mm width, low end height 31.75mm.

Made a little progress on the tent, made a cardboard template
Also worked on the Scorpion itself - L supports for the tent stowage, a bit too thick crash diet Decided to add jerrycan holders to the rear turret bin just dry fitted at this stage

Made the bivy, from more Pertex Used spray on adhesive to make the eaves & edges, masked with paper towels, melted holes with heated nail, used similar technique to make the engine grille cover
Then made a new set of tow ropes, tried to find brown textured cord, but went with white, need to find some brown dye Previous one's I'd made, I painted & the flexibility disappeared as the paint dried. Added epoxy 'grommets' to the bivy also epoxied the jerry can holders & the L supports on the hull ledge

Did a bit more work on Scorpion, this time the Slave Lead Cable (= jumper cable), on CVR(T) it's 18ft (1/16th = 342.9mm) on Stormer
Made the end plug from brass rectangular tube, 4mm wide x 10mm long the tricky bit was adding the nuts to the wire then epoxied it all together While waiting for it to dry, made up tool brackets, from litho plate, but need to replicate these in brass as litho plate is too flimsy

Your progress looks really epic! So much detail work, can't wait to see it all done.
I've taken a break from tanks for a little while. I finally started a kit I bought at the beginning of the year. Made a quick review of it here:

afv - any progress on the Scorpion?
I just opened up a 3D Hubs store, if anyone has anything custom they want to print! Check it out here: https://www.3dhubs.com/minneapolis/hubs/spyker-workshop

Hi Moo
Yes, a bit, axe bracket added bits to the rear hull - not quite sure what they are? And what appears to be a light for the convoy marking, 1st version was a bit small drilled holes for the slave lead plug pinsepoxied the warning lights unit & the battery breather valve added wires to the light fitting added spade brackets added light mounts and then I ran into problems.... the axe bracket is slightly too large & obstructs the spade, as does the battery breather valve. When I glued the pins for the slave lead, they stuck to the side of the plug. With the warning light unit - attaches to the LHS front side lights, it obstructs opening the front engine grille, so need to re make it. All in all, a bit discouraging, then the rest of Centurion arrived....

What did you all think of those videos?
Anyone still planning to order a kit? Kind of surprised by the overall lack of much interest in this kit. I've only sold a total of 3 1/2 kits (including the RC Sparks one, and someone bought just a turret lol...). For some reason RC Sparks never made a second video of the tank actually driving around. I know there was an issue with his Clark board and actually had to send the board back for a replacement but he has not wired the new one back in his tank I think.
All future orders will be printed in gray plastic now also, it looks so much nicer and is easier to see the parts to sand before paint is applied. The natural color was hard to see until paint was on.
Also I just made a small update to the drive train, any future orders will have this in them. I found an exact fit hexagonal shaft that has threads in each end, so you won't need to glue the sprocket onto the shaft now. Did some tweaks to the sprocket to support a screw. Even though you see a screw head on the outside now, its a pretty close size to what was on there already.

Hi Moo
The vids are good. I like the grey plastic.
Re that turret you sold - Greg bought it, he's building a 1/16th (one of Chris Ludwigs kits) Ozzie M113 with T50 turret at the moment, but is intending to build a M113 MRV ( Medium Recce Vehicle = M113 with Scorpion turret) http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?...=249510&page=1 - Page 2 shows the Scorpion turret.

Hi Dragon
Had wondered how you were progressing. Looks good. Haven't done anything on mine since the above post - Centurion intrusion. I see you've added the drivers exterior warning lights - above the front left indicators, mine obstructed the front engine hatch, but you looked to have avoided that?
