I only eyeballed mine off a photo, so I wouldn't take the 30mm as gospel.

There is no mounting flange on the cover tho - there are separate brackets to hold it on. I'll likely tackle them tomorrow or in the week.

Looking forward to seeing your steel wheeled Panther Martin. Don't see many of them done. When i did mine I didn't want to buck up for the Wecohe wheels so I had to go with
Sturmtiger wheels which look like crap now, gonna have to revisit that at some point.

They don't look so bad...

I have a set of Asiatam Tiger I wheels, but I need some kind of adaptor collar machining to fit them to the Taigen metal arms.
Something tells me I might have to invest in a mini lathe later in the year...

Are these early Panther g's martin? The reason I ask is I'm also using the rounded exhausts on mine and whilst I'm sure I've got some photos of one with them like this it's good to know I've not made a mistake!

Panther the same as Tiger used x4 square blocks welded to the rear hull as we can see in this picture the lower blocks have been removed

these are reproduction covers
http://www.panther1944.de/Bilder/Pan...on2008_014.jpg
In this picture you will notice that there were steel strips inside the covers reaching from one side to the other, these are the original items and as far as I know the only ones left

First 2 pics are a no show for me

Question - is the strap over the cover or inside? I haven't noticed an external strap in the pics I have here, but not to say that they didn't get lost in the photo reproduction.

Martin have you tried copying the links to your browser.
Straps are on the inside with the sheet on the outside in the pictures you can see remains of the original sheet, I will have a look to see if I have the dimensions of the exhaust covers

Still no joy on the first 2 pics - can you give me the web page they were on rather than the picture?

OK, time for an update:

Exhaust shields from 0.3mm copper sheet:

Formed around a knife handle of approx the right size:

And attached with (fake) brackets - a square of styrene strip, with a short length of rod to simulate the bolt:

Turret Zimmerit (ATAK) and mantlet lifting lugs (Tank-Modellbau.de):

Removed the crew heater from 2 decks, and fitted the Asiatam fans in their place:

And off to the paint shop we go...

Paint stencil - very useful when you have 5 sets of wheels to paint..

Spent the whole weekend painting wheels - now I just have to lacquer them... does Tamiya sell TS-80 by the gallon?

Martin, do my eyes deceive me I only see x3 Panther, where are the other x2 Panther as I thought you were building x5 Panther.

After painting at least 96 wheels you must by now be sick of the site of them, haven’t your neighbours complained about the peculiar odours coming from your apartment.

Actually there's now 6, as I dusted off the Profiline kit yesterday as well - the engine deck has warped a little tho, so don't expect rapid progress on that one...

The remaining G's are waiting for deck fittings like hatch handles (I should have them in by the end of the week) and turrets (ordered, but no ETA as yet).
