Taigen Tanks Airsoft Recoil Turret Teardown (with pictures and video!!)
Hey Tankers!
So I'm finally catching up and to a point now where I can finally do some more pictures and videos for you guys and today we will focus on the Tiger 1 airsoft recoil turret. I have a video uploading now and should be done within the next hour or so. For now please check out the pictures and feel free to ask away! In the video I will break down why you cant just purchase the airsoft unit a bit more than here, but it comes down to the new turret having a different barrel.
http://youtu.be/PUslO6hEG5o Video is now live! Enjoy guys!

Great video, Mein Bruder. Question - I buy one of these and put it in, down the road I wear out the airsoft unit. Will I be able to use one of the airsoft units I already have to replace it or will I have to buy another? It looks like I could just carefully drill a couple of holes to mount the servo and be OK, is that accurate?
BTW, I'll be needing a few of these. I love the metal turrets but once they're painted you can't tell the difference and I don't think all that weight is good for the hull top. I'm currently looking into bracing methods. There have already been a couple good ones posted, just have to find them.
Hey Guys, we should all chip in and get Erik a power screwdriver.

Yes they use the same airsoft units. Also I'll be looking into more bracing in the future, thanks for that reminder...
I do have a few drills, I just enjoy the feel more. I like having more control

Looks like a nice setup and an ingenious way to put it all together in small turrets. Can the outer sleeve be setup to stick out a little further? It looks like the current setup is in a partial recoil position.

I am thinking about how to modify this setup with some kind of switch in order to move from an airsoft+recoil to an IR+recoil setup, thus having the 'definitive' turret. I would like to avoid wearing the airsoft gears while in IR mode, but still retaining the barrel recoil.
I think it's just a matter of wires, anyway: the mechanics are already all there.

Our stock board controls it. We have a small interface that converts the signal passed from the airsoft unit into something the servo can use. The power for the servo and that interface board is done through that extra lead off the power cable in the video. That's pretty much it. You can swap your servo out for whichever you wish with no real issues.

Ah, that interface is what I'm interested in. If I had that, I could custom build one for my Pershing.

Here is a picture of the TAG120700 Tiger 1 early plastic turret Yes they will come with a power cable so you are good to go out of the box. Installation will be a breeze as well. We must test the waters with our Tiger 1 tank first before we decide if we wish to implement this on other tanks

Erik,
Please put me down for at least 2-off of those TAG120700 Plastic Tiger 1 turrets - I have a recoiling turret by another company called Creeping Death (now defunct) but I can tell you the recoiling feature is a fantastic
addition and brings the tank to life.
Cheers
