That's the question. A guy saw the paint job on my Jagdpanther and he wants me to do his Tiger One early in a 3 color scheme. I have no idea what to charge. I would provide all the paint, materials and decals. He's offered $200 but that seems kinda high to me. What do you guys think? Has anyone had a paint job done, and how much was it? Or, do any of you guys do this kind of thing and how much do you charge? Or, have you done this already and how much did you charge?

Considering you're supplying all materials, and the time, i'd say $200 seems fine to me. 1/16 tanks are big and painting can be time consuming, so yeah... I guess it all depends on you. How fast you work, etc.

I paint a lot of RC Crawler hardbodies and do some commissions here and there. For paintwork I usually ask $150-200 depending on the project and if they are just wanting weathering or paint and weathering.
You have to figure that if you were going to be buying all the supplies you have what..... $15+/- in decals, 3 paints plus primer at $6 per jar = $24. Then your time spent on it.

Sounds about right. Be careful though. Turning a hobby into a business can be a bad idea
I think we lost a guy who turned his hobby into a busness and now that business has disappeared. Once money is involved the relationship between people will change.
For what it is worth I will tell you how I keep the stress level low. I never accept money until the project is finished and ready to ship, and I tell people up front that I will do my best to be timely, but life can get complicated so no promises. As long as you haven't taken any money the stress about delivering is much less. People are much more understanding if they still have their money in their pocket.
Once I have accepted payment I put a 3 day deadline on my work. i.e out the door and to the customer in less then 3 days.

All good advice, and I really do appreciate it. This won't be a business for me, and while I've done plenty of static builds for others, none of them were for money (mostly family and sentimental things, like duplicating the Jeep Grandpa drove around Germany in the 40s, family got together to get the stuff and had me build it). I've got a few ideas for products I might put out for RC tanking, but I know better than to make it a serious business. It's just nice to pick up a little extra cash, which of course will go right back into the hobby.
