Mal ....
Yeah, I saw a photo that showed rifling and thought about trying to do that. After about 20 seconds I decided that I am just going to cover the barrel with a big plug or canvas tarp to keep the dust and dirt out of it when traveling down the road. And the birds out of it when parked.

Hi Rex
It's not that hard to do, get a Coke can, cut it up & flatten it out, mark lines from top to bottom, but on the diagonal, spaced 4-5mm apart, then bend the sheet around a round former (pipe?)(marked lines to the inside), squeeze it with a round or 2 of string, then fit it in the barrel, to check the fit, then glue. Easy

I've never heard of anyone doing that ---- I may try your method to see how that would work out for me. Aluminum foil and some thin lead sheets I have might also work. I need to experiment !!!

I was hoping that the kitchen sink would distract "experts" from noticing that back door thing ---- now you have me convinced it needs to be corrected. I didn't like the way that turned out either. The exhausts will have to get modified as you suggested.

Probably just me - so far.
The armortek guys did it with a lot more hi tech & precision, but at 1/6th scale you need that, 1/16th you can get away with a bit more latitude.
Was wondering what the sink was about, thought you must have run out of buckets?

Forgot to mention, paint the barrel interior with black paint, then wipe it away, some will stay in the lands, & make them stand out better.

This Sturmtiger project is getting close to a paint job. There wasn't much to scratch build except for the gun and crew compartment. The gun tube was the hardest part, the rest was just small details. I still need to put rifling in the gun tube. The artillery shell was the easiest.thing to do. Thank goodness my old boss smoked cigars. I was sure the aluminum tubes they came in would come in handy some day.

Soon I get to do the brummbar ---- when those parts will get here is still an unknown delivery date. I ordered that stuff on July 25. It got confirmed right away but I am still waiting for a notification of shipment. Why is it taking so long?

Hi Rex
Very nice. That shell is a great idea - the extra mile in detail. Bit surprised that they're Cuban cigars - didn't the US have an embargo on those - though that should have changed in the last few months?

Doing that shell took just a few minutes and was the most fun part of this whole project. I've had those things since before I retired in 2001.
My old boss was too much of a cheapskate to buy a box of Cuban cigars. We all believed they were probably Chinese counterfeits. He always asked me to collect the tubes from everyone, that was our clue they were phony. I did my best but it looks like I missed turning in a couple one year.

Before the embargo took effect, President Kennedy got 1200 Cuban cigars shipped in for his use. Maybe they were some of those.?

I'm thinking about changing the title of this thread from Sturmtiger/Sturmpanzer to Sturmtiger/Sturmpanzer II. I've been waiting for the upper hull of the Panzer IV that I ordered on July 25 so that I could build a Brummbar. I called Thursday morning to find out what the heck is going on and found out that my stuff was to be shipped soon. I have been looking around for something else to do that looks interesting, and I ran across photos of the Sturmpanzer II. I didn't know that little beauty even existed. It almost looks like an Italian SPG. I am also looking at a Hummel, Nashorn, Panzer IV/70, all interchangeable tops for the PZ IV F2 lower hull.

I just got an email with a USPS tracking number ----- My stuff just left China. Yippee !!!

I think a delivery from China will give me enough time for a quick conversion project. Last night as I was reorganizing my stuff, I found a couple of Indian motorcycles that I can convert into military models, maybe with a sidecar.

My bucket list is getting to be a little bit too long..............

Sometimes when I finish a project that took a little bit of time, I like to take a short break and do something that would be quick and easy. Motorcycles and trailers have always been the answer for me. While I waited for the parts from Mato to build a Sturmpanzer Brummbar, I started these two bikes on 8-21.

I got my Mato parts yesterday --- just in time to watch the paint on the bikes dry --- perfect timing!

Here's some more motorcycles in my motor pool. I think I need to do a Kettenkrad and some British bikes.

Really excellent looking bikes, Rex. What were the ones you started with? I have a couple 1/18 Harleys layin' around, I wonder if I should try this one myself. Hey, wouldn't be the first time I flagrantly copied my buddy Rex and I'm sure it wouldn't be the last.

Yes they are all 1/18th scale. I have had them for years. Maisto was one source and Diecast Metal Super Bikes another. I did a Google search for Die Cast Metal Motorcycles and got a jillion hits in all scales. Here's one from Amazon. Finding a motorcycle that could be converted to a WW II type is the challenge.

Yeah, just finding one with a proper seat will take some looking. I picked up this one and I'm pretty sure it's a Maisto and this is exactly how it came out of the box, I haven't changed a thing. I plan to, though, starting with adding a Thompson to the holster. I got this on evilbay for less than 12 bucks, and I think you can still find them. If I could get riders I'd pick up three or four more and make up a patrol.

A search on ebay for 1/18 motorcycle brought up 10 pages, but most of them are unsuitable for what we want. I found a few of the military jobs like I have with free shipping so I ordered another for $11.95 and that's with free shipping. Another project I'll have to get around to, but I think a pair of them will be pretty cool. Now to find riders.
