Hey thanks everyone! As far as builds go with kits this is turning out to be a lot of fun. The hull is very roomy which makes thing's easy too. I'll try to get a video asap.
It actually does. I can hear the motors turning, and the gears themselves really only make noticeable noise at higher speeds. It should be said that these particular gearboxes were already fairly slop-free and seem to mesh well which is really luck of the draw with pot metal.

Awesome Grant Strato50!!!! I love to see another Sherman type tank being built and coming to life as a full function RC tank. I've bought some of Warren's 3DP parts for my M4 build. He has some amazing items in his Shapeways store. I'm planning a few scratch builds of a couple M4 variants. I post on RC Groups tank page and I'm new here with my first re-build of a well used Heng Long Leopard 2.
Keep up the great work and keep em rolling!!!

I had one of each as model kits when I was growing up. I like both the Lee and Grant, but I have to say I like the bigger turret of the Grant. Then again one of my favorite war films, "Sahara" staring Humphrey Bogart had an M3 Lee by the name of Lulabelle. If I had a chance to build one of the M3's I think it would be the Lulabelle. The smaller turret might be tough to have the 37mm gun elevate and have recoil, but that's half the fun trying to do something very few people will ever attempt.

I would love to build one of these tanks with an airsoft gun firing from the 75mm position. I think there would be enough room to rotate and elevate the gun. Wow, Airsoft and IR in the same tank!!!LOL What an idea!!!

Thanks for the input everyone!
Airsoft in the 75mm would be a challenge.. there isn't a ton of room behind that gun & you would lose nearly all of your traverse. Interesting idea still.
Elevation for the 37mm will be with a simple servo & linkage which hardly takes up any room. Recoil I have no plans for, as it is a very, VERY small gun tube but it'd be possible if I made a whole new one & barrel sleeve from brass stock. My next challenge is fitting the IR emitter up there somewhere.

Making some progress again.
Added the brigade emblems, aka Dimetrodon Nike Fireworks lizard / Boomerang Crocodile Palm tree / Australian 4th Armored Brigade.
The painstaking task of cutting and gluing 170+ rubber track pads actually wasn't so bad & it only took about 2 hours. The foam is pretty dense but it will eventually chip, wear and slice over very rough ground just like the real thing. It might give me problems over thick grass too so this might end up being a road preference tank.

I wish Mato or HL would produce one, they have the basics for a hull and other components. It would be nice to see one. But then how about a Sherman Firefly? These companies have the basics like the hull and turret. Tooling up for production, should not be a big problem. The Firefly would be popular. I will not go into depth about a Centurion Tank. My favorite tank, and the first one I served on.

I picked up a sheet of dense foam from Michael's for about $1.75; it seems tough enough and has so far stood up to hardwood floors, carpet and some severely cracked tile flooring It might stick too well in grass... waiting to see.
Evidently Mato IS making a Lee... although we haven't heard much about it in many moons.. along with a Stuart & several American tank destroyers.
The Centurion is high on most people's list believe me :P
