I just ordered the chally with the desert paint scheme. I believe it's the same that my Abrams came with. I kept the Abrams desert camo, but I repainted it with MM desert sand. Looked to white at first but looks better after playing with it in the dirt. Think I'm going to paint the chally the same. Can't wait till upgrades start popping up for it. Usually I'll upgrade my armor before I paint, but as long as it took for the challengers release, who knows how long it'll take for upgrades hit the market.

Noticed at the end of the vid there is an ELMOD advertisement. Wonder what they're up to on this or is it just that they also sell ELMOD boards?

Thanks Gfray, I like that he can machine them out of steel. Way more durable than any casting could dream to be!

NATO is actually a three color camo scheme. The Brits usually only do a two color scheme when they use camo, but the US and ?germany use all three NATO colors which are the black green, the forest green and a rusty type brown so if your Abrams came those colors that is not a true NATO scheme for the Abrams.

Ok, I did not know what colors where coming on the Abrams as Mine came desert sand and I have not seen any come in camo. the Brits did this with there forces in Kosovo also. that was a cool looking greyish green color and green black again.

There also seems to be two turret variations, one with extra side armor one without.

what was the three color scheme on the American armor before the NATO colors. I know there was a specific name for it but I can't remember now. It was like a sand color and a darker green and an almost black grayish color.
My 1:24 scale Abrams has that color on it. i believe this one is a Mauri and i have the Vs T-72 with it also.

MERDC was one variant set.

"In USA various exercizes saw a large variety of 1-tones seasonal camouflage patterns being tested (MERDC), later abandoned for the olive drab. NATO Black/Med-Green/Dark-Brown standard CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) pattern were also applied for some time to M1s deployed in Northern Europe. In Iraq however, the tanks were painted in desert tan. With the following operations in the 2000s in Afghanistan and Iraq, some repaired tanks showed a mix of parts in desert tan and olive drab depending of the depot supplies. Nowadays only the Australian tanks shows a 3-tone disruptive camouflage made of black, olive drab and brown."

http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/co.../M1_Abrams.php

So, the MERDC has been abandoned in favor of the 3 color NATO scheme. Like I said before...can't see that they named the pattern. It's just called 3 color NATO...AFAIK.
