Ok, we have a pretty good contingent of soviet cold war era tanks now, its time to see some m48s or m60s. For real, so many guys of the era that drove them are retired and ripe for the hobby. Time to relase these before those vets pass on.

I drive my shermans with my lcm at the boat pond and every now and then i get a vet that says he drove them. Mostly for training or in the guard since they were not front line tanks past Korea.

You're right about releasing these things before the vets pass on, but I'm still hoping for some soft skinned vehicles. There are a lot more vets that drove trucks or jeeps than tanks. We need support vehicles!

Was wanting a T-72 anyway so an RC ready one will be even better than transforming a plastic kit into RC 'cause those that have know it isn't THAT FUN!

It's ALL good news!

Trumpeter has been into tanks for quite some time. WSN is their RC division for people who may not have been aware of this. Anyone who has a Halftrack already owns a Trumpeter

Interesting stuff about Walthersons Erik. Up until now they have been rebranders. If they truly are striking out on their own than that is good news

I wonder if the 1/24 scale are the formally forces of valor tanks. Funny that they would make the exact same type and version tanks. But hey if they have new electronics I might give them a chance, even though I already have at least 2 of each of the ones they showed.

Greg, if you're into 1/24 I have an old Abrams that's mostly in pieces but if you can use it for parts it's yours for free. It's got a complete lower hull. You might be able to use the tracks or something. Probably better to wait until I have to send something to someone in Canada and I'll include it to resend to you. That would help a lot in the postal rates department. PM me if you're interested.

Yes, they will be taking a big step into the tank business. With us to help I'm sure they will do just fine The big 1/16th are going to be quite nice, they are the scale I am most interested in. I'll get more info on the electronics soon. How do you like the gearbox style at least? I'm thinking that will make getting the most realistic ratios much easier and cheaper than before.

If it doesn't play out, how hard would it be to install Taigen gearboxes?

How long before someone mods one of these? Maybe some kind of baby powder projectiles that puff on impact?

I thought about doing the Sherman rocket module like that. It would have to be almost a continuous IR fire from those things.

I like the looks of the gearbox... now is it going to be a quiet one? Hope so, loads of potential need to come through to re-write some RC tank history.

This one had 3 emitters. One in the barrel and one at each top corner of the launcher. Took distance down since you drop voltage to the bulbs but what a spread it had!!

I wonder if a capacitor across the leads would help. I guess you put the IR bulbs in series, wouldn't parallel be the right way to go?

This tank isn't one of mine. I'm not sure how he had it wired up other than knowing they were all on jst plugs so he could unplug the upper emitters when enough people started complaining mainly on having the 2 upper emitters so high as he could shoot over trees and not take a hit, was pretty funny to watch. Sorry no vid's that I know of.

Sweet!

I'll sign up for a T-72 when they hit the Shelves...

As the T-72 was our Counterpart, I'm Really Needing to see an M60A3!!!
Back in 1984 I cut my Tanker Teeth on the M60A3 as a Baby Tanker (19e)...
I was 17 years old and the T-72 was the closest thing to "The Booger Man" out there for us.

I always felt that we would have been Hard Pressed going up against the T-72 in our (84-85) vintage
M60A3's. The T-72's had a bigger main gun and were a smaller/lower target than our M60's...
And there were a Lot more of them.

Once we transitioned to the M1A1 (19k) in 1986 it was pretty much Over.

Parallel would be the way to go, but you're already post resistor with Tamiya's IR lead from the MFU.

Although I'm not sure how any of that works regarding seding the signal code. Actually, there's no advantage to having more than one emitter anyway. Just get a wider spread bulb or place the existing closer to the tube end.

Yea, your right Jeff. This was to achieve the bigger spread but still be compliant on tube size/emitter depth.

IF I were to build one of these and be compliant with the rules (that nasty 5 letter word) I would have the launchers on some kind of timed flashing sequence to simulate firing (bulb flasher) and just have one emitter... either in one of the tubes or in the main barrel.

That way there's no strain on the electronics having to deal with multiple bulbs.

I can probably find it again for you, Hal, what specifically are you interested in, the Lego or the RC Isetta?
