Painting tips for Jagdpanther?
#26
Thanks for your painting advice and how you did your project. I am going to follow your procedure and hope I get the results you got when I paint some of my backlog of German tanks that I want to do with camo paint schemes. I can do a paint job that looks like something that just rolled off the factory floor, but weathered paint is not my strong point by any means. Also, I think learning to do road dirt and battle damage might go a long way to cover up my mistakes and inaccuracies. Your posting was good timing!!!!

I like using pastel chalks for weathering because if you screw up they will wash or even rub right off.
This is my first attempt at weathering a model. It's much easier than I expected. I'm using black to get into crevices to bring out detail. I have been mostly using a dry sponge but also a wet/damp small brush allows you to drag the muck into crevices. When it dries, you can rub away the excess with a bit of sponge, leaving dark grime in the recessed areas.
I'm also using brown to create a dirty look.
The red makes nice rust, especially on the tow cable, which I painted with a metallic enamel.

Your posting is kicking my memory in the butt --- I looked for some stuff I bought a long time ago, never used, and forgot about. I'm going to give this stuff a try on a practice piece to see if it is any good anymore, it's been in a drawer for about 20 years.
Has anyone out there ever used this stuff?

A bit more work tonight. Sprayed on some dull coat, then added a bit more weathering, including some rust. Also I've added most of the accessories. Body is almost done. My wheel mask should be here any day so I can paint the wheels and get them back on.
