Cool Tamiya Panzerjager 'Jagdpanther' (Sd.Kfz.173)

Thought while I was finishing up the Late Production Panther (and in the Panther groove) I'd knock off my F.O. Jagdpanther.

And I have NO IDEA what version (early, mid or late) to build it as.

(nice problem to have, aye)

I'll be watching with interest.

If there's one Tammy I regret not buying, it's the Jagd P.

Looks like I'll need to 'bone up' on my Jagdpanther education as I only have the book "The Modelers Guide to the Jagdpanzer". It depicts an early version from the 654th in '44 but looks more like an early to mid Jagdpanther with the later style exhaust, non raised fan, same roof layout as the late but with the early mantlet and the monobloc single piece barrel.

I thought early versions ALL had the exhaust manifold cooling pipes on the left side of the rear hull?

Any suggestions on printed material for this would be appreciated.

I used
Panzer Tracts No. 9-3 "Jagdpanther, to help me a bit while I'm doing mine .

Thanks! I'll look into that for sure. Looks like I am aiming more towards a mid production like this example:

I like the use of the 2 piece barrel, non-bolted mantlet collar (not the smaller early version) BUT has zimm. This is from the Schwere Panzerjaeger Abteilung 654 so I have been looking at what I want my Jagdpanther to look like. LOL More studying and and I'll get that book for my heavily extended library.

This 1/35th build has the look I like: http://www.planetarmor.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3391

i believe that as a kit, the Tamiya JP is a DEC '44 or later JP. it would be a lot of work to make it an earlier version as the roof layout and the rear deck are significantly different, but not undoable.

Yes, the “Hunting Panther” kit is the Späte version but I do have all the information of the 3 locations the Jagdpanthers were manufactured at: 1 ~ MIAG (Muhlenbau-Industrie AG) 2 ~ at MNH (Maschinenfabrik Niedersachsischen-Hanover) then 3 ~ MBA (Maschinenbau und Bahnbedarf) PLUS with the book Sollie recommended I'll be set on getting it correct.
