Default Hooben T-55 Rerelease Parts Compatibility?

Has anyone got any of those redone t-55 kits? I heard about them a while ago and just saw them on rctank.de, and I noticed the gearboxes are new (and seem much stronger). I was wondering if the new gearboxes were compatible with the old kits, as well as any other changes that may have happened.

Here is the de listing:

http://www.rctank.de/HOOBEN-T-55-ART...c-new-release-

If those gearboxes can be mounted in the old kits I might pick one up, would like to see changes to other systems as well

In the old kit transmissions Tamiya gears are a drop in. The bearings shown in the road wheels are open, not sealed, therefore a problem waiting to happen. However, it looks like a good kit.

Believe Bob meant you can replace the actual gears from the Hooben gearboxes with tamiya gears.

I have the new kit. The gearboxes are metal with bearings. From what I could tell they did some improvements.

Yeah, I tried the tamiya gears from the pershing and they fit great but my frame is messed up.

Crisaman, would you happen to have a way to check if they are the same mounting setup as the old boxes?

I did a little unboxing with a cell phone camera:

Thanks! It looks like the holes in the hull are the same, but the gearboxes are definitely different, and they have a mounting/strength plate now..?

Is that also a reinforcement plate in the front of the lower hull?

Also looks like servo recoil and elevation instead of the garbage older units.

I hope we can get some of these upgrades standalone for our older release kits... would be great

DKM and hooben have metal tracks availible too. This is good news.

looks like hooben has the new boxes listed under the t-55, but it doesnt look like it includes the hull brace:

I really wish Hooben would sell more parts individually like the wheels for the T-55. I'd like to make the 1969 upgrade of the SU-100.

I was going to buy some of the new gearboxes from DKLM RC for my older kit, he said they'll fit fine. He also may be able to get replacement standalone parts, such as wheels, you'd have to ask him though, i'm only assuming that it might be possible based on the availability of the gearbox as a separate purchase. http://www.dklmrc.com/

I have a full set of t-55 roadwheels/tires/bushings if you are interested - I wont be using them.

I have seen the modellbau hull braces before, but has anyone used the DKLM one?
