Default How accurate is the turret # 3818?

Does anyone know how accurate the HL Tiger 1 turret number 3818 is? Historically I don't recall any 4 digit numbers on the WWII German Tiger
1's. Tim

It isn't in the slightest. There weren't even three thousand Tigers built, so it doesn't work on any level.

There aren't any on a Tiger and rarely 4 digits on any German armor.

The numbers are setup by the Panzer Division in mode and color and usually are Group, Platoon, Tank and they rarely go over 4 since there just weren't that many Tigers in one group. There's always a variation to allow for command tanks, etc using zeros or letters.

The tank Wittmann died in (not his) was 007.

Hi, As has already been said there was no "3818".
The highest turret number issued was "Large capital 13 - Small capital 34" --(1334) this was carried by a Tiger 1 of 13,/SS-Panzerregiment 1 - this was in July1943.
The next Highest Turret number was "945" which was carried by Tiger 1 of 9./SS-Panzerregiment 3-in October 1943,
The highest Turret number on a German ARMY Tiger 1 is "832" of 10.Panzerdivision (501) in February 1943,
The highest turret number in this Division was not a Tiger but a Panzer 111 ."835"
What must not be forgotten is that by 1945 most Tigers, both 1s and 2s no longer carried Turret numbers.
Shaun.

The more relevant mistakes are:

The mantlet should be asymmetrical
The tool box, the angles are wrong.
Other minor details, like weldings, panel lines...etc.
Download a Tamiya Tiger instruction booklet and you will realize the mistakes

Check this article, I used a HL upper hull for the Hobby Boss chassis

First....apology for the thread hijack. Sorry.
I have another Tiger turret number question for Jarndice, Ausf or others.
In August,1944, five repaired Tigers were being transported by rail through Warsaw for delivery to the west. Two of those were supposedly offloaded and diverted into Warsaw to help put down the insurrection by the Polish home army and to help level Warsaw per Hitler's orders. At least one Tiger was captured and used by the Poles for a day or two against the Germans.
Ausf has helped greatly with this question in the past, but I'm just digging to see if anyone has additional info on those Tigers. Unlikely anyone has a turret number, but any info would be helpful. Thanks much.

HENG LONG sell TOYS so they don't research the actual Turret numbers that were used by the various Tanks of the different Armies their Tanks represent, They print off a set of Decals knowing that young Johnnie won't know the difference. If you want the real numbers then you should go to "Elite" or "Archers" or "Peddinghaus"
Shaun.

In the past HL's turret decals were their catalogue numbers, not any real tank. The have improved recently but their older models are still 'toys'.

+1 for Elite Armor Decals - the best I have ever used! Same for Archers.

Peddinghaus not so much to be honest extremely difficult to apply without 'silvering' or bubbles, despite using every trick in the book.
