M4A1E8 twins
I have to start two new projects and leave for some time Panther and KV-122 projects on the shelf...
So here we are! Now I'm building two M4A1E8 Shermans at a time. One will be mine r/c version for the battling, the other will travel to USA as a static model.
The first task was to get two Tamiya Shermans and that was completed sucesfully:
The r/c version is having now an Impact gearboxes:
And both twins will be on the Impact T-66 tracks:
That wasn't easy to get two Mato upper hulls, but I made it! And I have to clear from it all unnecessary parts:
Both tanks will have a lot of the Schumo parts, i love them quality a lot!
Something assembled...
New hatches:
To be continued...

The gun travel lock shumo makes is for the 105 howitzer, the 76mm had a shorter one, mounted further up on the hull. You should put the ones that were on the mato hull back on they were correct.
other than that good start. What are you using for turrets?

Thanks for the info! But I like the Schumo gun lock a lot and I'll use it... As for the turrets, I hope to get Schumo ones. They're just fantastic. You can see it on y Fury thread.
Little bit more done...

That's really sweet work and you're truly gifted with the brass. The front and side fender extensions looks really nice.
I cheated on my build and grafted the Tamiya fenders onto Nicks resin A1 hull using heavy brass. It was a labor of love too!
Nice to see the progress!

Cool! I'll be following, I just bought a HL Sherman off eBay that was dressed up to look like Fury. It's got the wrong turret and the gun isn't right, but it's a start and I really have wanted a Sherman for awhile now.

Beautiful work! But that travel lock is still way too tall. Its a 105 which is wrong for these shermans. Sorry, it just jumps out at me. You have it mounted too low for the correct position on a 76mm as well.
Mato makes a nice metal one that would work.
ok, I will get off the soapbox and shut up.

So the shumo turrets, what kind of barbet ring are they designed to rotate on, tamiya or henglong? Those old mato a1 large hatch huls are HL turret ring if I recall.
How did you set up the turret rotation on your rc one.
Very nice. i love the brass work. Im doing alot of my details in brass now, but i would hate to make that much of it from brass and have it bashed up in battles.

Hi, Rich!
Yes, that's true about rotation ring. I made the rotation hole bigger, because I'm using Tamiya turret rotation ring and rotation unit. A little bit later I'll post some photos...

The work is close to the finish...
Some detailing on the r/c twin:
Both beauties:
Rear mudflaps:
And some more detailed photos:
Work with lighting on both models is done.
One more detail:
Last evening was spent making the mantlet tarpauline cover on the r/c model:
After couple days both twins will go for the painting...

Very pretty indeed.
I had planned to add the canvas detail to mine but never got around to it. But did fire it up over the weekend... after cleaning an amazing amount of dust off! LOL!!!
Keep up with the pictures!
