M48 MBT The Cold War Warrior scratch built report
Dear colleagues,
I want to introduce our new Projekt
Starting developmentin October 1950, after solving some shortcomings in the early series, the M48 gota successful design later in the 50ties. The M48 was used very successfully1967 in the 6-Day-War by the IDF and also by US-Troops in Vietnam.
It wasnt easy to(re-) design this tank in 3D, because almost everything is elliptic or roundresp. hand made very less reference planes
Some pictures ofdesign process:
The model kit:
Again this kit is developed in cooperation withChristian Ludwig to increase his Portfolio
recognizing the elliptic section:
Coming up the assembly report
Cheers,
Freddy

NO DOUBT. Time to start an M48 savings account or, or... throw up a 'Go Fund Me' page (like someone did for their cat) and get this American icon tank. I also want the M47 (hint-hint)! Maybe I can borrow Mikes nylon stalking because I want the Matilda II also.
How many will paint theirs desert yellow and with a Balkenkreuz?

...but let΄s go on...
Postings in this report will be rough (that΄s the topic of the assembly manual)…
Mounting of the bogies and bumpers:
Fixed centering in the lower hull for the upper hull and turret:
Some parts of the return rollers. Holes for 5 return rollers each side are placed inside the hull, if somebody wants to build an A2GA2-, A3- or A5-version.
The track tension device origin from Henntec, have to be cut a little.
The first steps are done ;-)

4 holes at each bogie allow different spring tension adjustment.

Parts of the bogie links…

I would suggest changing gear boxes to taigen 4:1 transmissions. Before you go any further for reliability reasons.
Those mato ones will give you trouble. I have had a couple sets and all of them spun their motor pinion loose, some had wobbly gears and other problems. Wont ever buy them again becuase when the next problem happens the entire mato lower will come out from under the tank and it will get a taigen chassis.
