Heng long tiger
HI
I am new here and looking to upgrade my tiger 1 heng long. I have lots of metal upgrade parts for it what would the best epoxy glue to use on it also where would I find info about fitting the up grade parts

Hallo Stephen, If you could let us know what upgrades you have we will be better able to offer help,
Is it new gearboxes ?
Perhaps Gearbox output shaft Axle bearings, or maybe a new control board,
If it is Photo-Etch then you are entering a different world of Tank building,
Whatever the upgrades we can help but we need a clue as to what it is your doing.

this is what I would like to put on my tiger tank
all items are metal
Gearbox / Road wheels / Cupola / Sprocket & Idler wheels / All hatches / Lights / Exhausts & Air filters / Tracks / Vents / Reinforcement for floor tray
Pistol port / Gun barrel excision / Hull machine gun + Photo-etch grills / Zimmerit / Stronger supension springs

I have owned 6 heng long tanks in the past when i was a lot more invested in this hobby then i am now (I switched to other hobbies that needed less storage space and expense). But IMO you might be better off with two tigers, one to customize full metal and one to drive. All those metal parts will make the tank so heavy it won't move very fast at all...and the metal tracks in particular, are seldom trouble free and tend to fall off, even when you have the running gear to match (The metal IMEX hull for instance). All-metal tracks and wheels will be heavier then the rest of the tank put together - and will require the metal replacement arms to be installed since the plastic ones, if retained, will tend to bend if not break. In short, you can make it work but you may not be satisfied with the results.
If I were you, wanted to do all this and budget was no object, I would consider getting the all-metal Tiger tank. It would still be slow, to be sure, but at least the whole tank is made to bear all those metal parts.

With all due respect to Marc, I'd stay away from the Mato Tiger, since it's really just a metal copy of the Heng Long hull with all it's flaws and that same crappy suspension. Proper torsion bar suspension is the way to go if you're adding all those metal bits.

That must have happened fairly recently because I was going to buy one about 2 years ago until I took a look and saw that they have that same spring suspension that the plastic heng long tanks have.
but I still wouldn't buy another Mato all metal tank. I had the P3 and while it was a fairly decent little tank if you get much bigger than that I think you're better off to go with the taigen lower Hull with torsion bar suspension like they have in their P3, the new P4 and the tiger one.
And the original poster also has to consider shipping from Canada, when a taigen lower can be had from Forgebear right there in the UK.

After trying metal parts on T-34, King Tiger, and my PAnzer III, they seemed to snowball too fast and add too much weight. "Got metal tracks? Find they are wearing out the plastic road wheels, better get metal. Oh no, an arm broke - need metal of those too. Wait, how'd my tank get so heavy?" The only tank I had where the metal tracks worked 100% were on the Panzer PZKFW III and the ones that came with it on the T-34. Never had the tracks fall off once from either of them. They didn't add much weight and never had a problem. Did the same thing to my King Tiger and I couldn't keep the metal tracks from falling off for a 5 minute drive, and just as bad, they were far too heavy. .
