Default Tamiya USA on Facebook: 1/16 R/C M1A2 Abrams Full-Option IR RC Kit Announcement.

Visit Facebook, Tamiya USA. Specs released July 2, 2017.
1/16 IR R/C U.S. Main Battle Tank M1A2 Abrams Full-Option Kit.

• Length: 615mm, width: 231mm, height: 190mm.
• The chassis is powered by a gearbox with Type 540 motors and features metal parts. They include: lower hull, suspension arms, drive sprockets and more.
• Expertly recreated angular Abrams form includes depictions of anti-slip surface textures.
• Aluminum gun barrel has traverse and elevation/depression movement, thanks to a servo and Type 130 motor.
• Multi-Function Unit is made up of turret and vehicle control units. It allows control of various movements via separately sold transmitter.
These include turret rotation and gun elevation. It also ensures that a range of realistic sound and light effects (headlights, taillights, barrel flash) are paired with model actions.
• Gun barrel control system can train the main gun in a single direction, which it remains pointed in even as the tank moves or climbs, and the turret rotates.
• The included dual speaker offers highly realistic sounds.
• Durable resin pre-assembled tracks feature metal pins and connectors.
• Compatible with the Battle System (Item 53447) for fun and interactive battles with friends!
• Requires a 4-channel transmitter with self-neutral function, battery pack and transmitter batteries.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's just the type 10 MF/DMD without sound change. Like every other tammy new release around 1k.

With radio, tbu, supplies and paint, more like $1200.00 to $1400.00 for the kit, plus shipping, is a reasonable guess. Abrams Sound: well Tamiya USA on FB said it is accurate. We will all know soon enough

When you compare the tamiya msrp to the sale price on the AAF museum store website, comperable tanks priced in that range do average this tank to about a price of 850-900 as stated. Pretty reasonable i guess for this technology. Might have to get one someday once Ive built too many shermans.

After seeing the lack of detail in the static version, I have no plans to buy this tank. I just started to detail my HL Abrams. Most of the details I have to fix on it I'd have to fix on the Tamiya. The machine gun parts sprues might be helpful for the HL build though since they look more detailed than the HL ones, but other than the electronics I don't see any benefit to this tank. After looking at the Trumpeter 1/16 M1A1 static kit it seems to be more detailed than the Tamiya offering, but then that is only an A1 version and not an A2. There are some massive detail mistakes in the upper hull of that kit also. Not sure why any of the manufacturers can't get it right with this tank in 1/16 scale seeing that it's such an investment to put a kit like this out. Since that kit is much cheaper it would probably just be better to buy it and use the parts to detail my HL Abrams.

I will be buying one. I've already fixed up a HL Abrams with new electronics and lots of scratch built details. I still want a Tamiya one. Saving up my money for it already.
