offering: better crew served weapon detail, molded on deck texture, better suspension, photo etch grills, and of course the electronics if you are a fan of the Tamiya control package. In general I regard Tamiya as a good company. I've bought their 1/35 kits over the years and bought a Hornet R/C car in my early teens.
I do get what you mean, 100%, but my primary purpose for these tanks is as an RC model, hence molded-in handles aren't a deal-breaker. Having that soundtrack, all that fiber optic lighting, and fancy heading-hold and gun barrel stabilzation however, is a deal-maker. If I was after a scale model, then yeah, I'd probably feel the same as you if the price tag is this huge.

The tanks are made with styrene, and some parts like the leopard wheels with ABS. Thats why you need to use two diferent kinds of glue.

Sorry, can't really test out the lights yet as I have them masked in preparation for matte clear coat, which I can't do right now because its raining.

Get on the phone and order yours from the AAF Tank Museum already!

I just got the e mail from AAF to pay for my Abrahms. I am wondering if Cleong or one of the other members with the kit could post what bearings the kit needs. Would like to order them before the kit gets here. Is there a link to a PDF of the instructions yet? Can't find one if there is.

This is going to be a nice addition to go with my Leopard and Pershing tanks.

I hadn't heard a video that did the Abrams soundtrack any justice, hence I made sure sound was good on mine.

I want to highlight that the Clark TK22 M1 board has a similar sound output albeit a longer startup sequence. It sounds equally good with uprated speakers. Where it doesn't do so well is in modulation of the sound pitch with respect to throttle positions, it steps from one pitch to another, instead of varying pitch smoothly.

I'm not sure if TK60 fixes this characteristic, though. I'll do a video soon.

Really awesome people at aaf tank museum, I can’t believe she responded so quickly, I’m sorry if I interrupted her evening, I think it’s just the box that’s ok with me .

This video should answer some questions about lighting and all that. I have to shoot in a darkened condition so that the lights will show up well.
