[QUOTE=Airbrushler;12387105]Mike C posted this up on the Can Am site pretty cool
Trumpeter 1/16 M-ATV MRAP[/QUO
I checked that model out and the prices for the same model were between $160 up to $745 on the internet. The $750 one must be all metal ---------- or solid gold.

But it makes me wonder why the speakers in the hetzer sound so good on the IBU2 because those are 4 ohm speakers. The Heng long and taigen speakers are less than 8 Ohms, do you know exactly how much? Are they 4-ohm speakers?
#506
About the IBU and the 4 ohm speakers, probarbly is because the board is prepared to handle 4 ohm speakers. In the case of the dasmikro, 8ohm or higher is a must.

I don't know jack about speakers (yet) but I have some 18 ohm speakers, are they good for anything? The speaker that comes with the das mikro is better than nothing, but not by much. I'd like to be able to get enough volume to hide the whine of the drivetrain, but that might have to be pretty loud, like maybe too loud.
Rad, did I tell you I ordered a 3D printer? Speaker boxes are on the list, but I do like the effect you get from a wood box better than plastic. I hear they have 3D printers now that print wood. Some of this modern tech boggles my hippie brain, can ya dig it?

Yep, I've seen you got your first printer. If I need somebody to print something for me, now I know who to ask, lol. And about the wood printer, this is the first notice I have... Are you sure is a printer and not a laser cutter?

I tried 3d printing wood a few years ago but had bad results. To be fair I had a crappy printer and it was a few years ago. Things have change a lot in the last few years in 3d printer-land. I would love to test with our new printer as the wood filament is great to sand and work with after printing. You can also change the temp as it prints to make color rings to make it look more like wood too. Definitely keep us up to date on this one! What printer did you get btw?

The interest in the R/C 4x4 truck on this forum is amazing. The upgrades and improvements to detailing are very interesting and creative. I am going to keep my khaki and smoky grey vehicles as built. The other two khaki models I have are going to be converted into a Morris C8 Quad FAT and an Otter armored car. This is my build so far for the Quad FAT. I decided to start in the middle of this project by building the ammunition limber and then the C8. I still can't decide between a 17 pounder or the 25 pdr. for the artillery piece. I like the round rig on the 25 pdr. that is dropped down on soft or sandy soil for stable gun rotation, but the frame has a jillion rivets and I hate doing rivets. The 17 pdr. is a welded frame and a much easier build so I favor that one. The howitzer shown here is a totally bogus howitzer I made out if parts years ago, so I cheated by using it in this photo. I also have plans to do 2 conversions for the 6x6 rock crawler I got from Gearbest ---- maybe 3 ---- or 4 ???? We shall see -----. I think I will start a new thread about using the bobbed deuce as a scratch built or conversion project, and leave this thread to the R/C guys.

I was just reading about printing wood this morning and they have some brand new products that look promising. You're definitely right that things change fast, Erik, and I'm sure if you gave it another try with the currently available stuff with the printer you use now you'll have much, much better results. Being able to print things like ammo crates out of actual wood would be terrific. And you guys know me, I share my toys.
And now I might finally be able to get some decent 200 liter German fuel drums!!

Ok, this one is almost wrapped up. One more unexpected snafu to overcome and we'll call it a truck (except we're still waiting for shackles for the front). Here's where it's at now, once I get the camera sorted out it's ready for duty.

That's pretty cool, Greg. What kind of plastic is he using? That's slightly larger scale, isn't it? Like 1/14 or 1/12, maybe?
Didn't you make the doors on your truck open? I'm wondering if you did anything with the inside of the door?
Anyway, made some mudflaps.

I'll have to look into that, Greg. It would be perfect for an ambulance box.
Pending arrival of the shackles I'm calling this one done. I'll get some mobius video from FPV and post it soon.

Guys,
This past weekend I was conversing with Luis of "Panzer Vs Tanks", a Shapeways.com Designer. Luis has just release the following figure set:
https://www.shapeways.com/product/PG...ionId=59430360
this is a 3 figure set of German drivers. I asked Luis if he could possible product an American driver as well....
I suggested he make the 3 figure German driver set - its a rescale of a 1/35th set he already made; the re-scaling still has good detail. But, I was thinking for some of you, maybe he should offer the 3 figures individually?
I was thinks these might be good for all kinds of projects.

Springman, I took a very good look at those figures, and I clicked on and read the part about painting, and I still have some questions. They look very nice and seem to have good detail but that's not a real photo so it's hard to tell. First, do we know anyone that has actually used this kit? It seems like the cleaning is extremely important and seems to be rather time consuming and labor intensive. It says they're made of nylon, but for adhesives there's just one line (that I was able to find) that says "superglue should be used". It's been my experience that very few adhesives will stick to nylon, but I've never tried it on a filament based piece like these.
I'm also wondering why this stuff seems to cost so much? I'm not saying it costs too much, and don't want to start an argument, but that seems like a lot of money for three little dudes. I know figures in resin bring high dollar but I've learned a bit about that and how resin is very expensive and you need a vacuum and three wizards and a priest, but I don't know much about the kind of stuff they make at shapeways. I know the machines can be expensive, I wonder if run time at a set rate per hour is a figgered variable? I don't know, I guess I'm just a tightwad, but when you can buy two complete trucks for the price of three drivers it seems a bit off kilter.
Anyway, I'll keep looking for a good cheap driver. Part of the fun is trying to use the lowest cost stuff I can find, to keep the end cost reasonable for a regular guy to enjoy the hobby. I was just looking at the FPV truck and if you count the FPV capability my little $30 truck is now worth about ten times that. Well, maybe not worth it, but it cost that much.
