Panzer I Start-up of the German Panzerwaffe the build report
As the title suggests, I would like to contrast with the numerous existing "bigger" models in the 1/16 RC scene, a smaller model - the Panzer I Ausf. B and in addition a conversion - the Command Tank I.
A short view into the designing of the two models…
…the Panzer I Ausf. B …
…and the Command Tank I.
The kit of Panzer I Ausf. B (following abbreviated to Pz. I) consists of several milled poly and aluminum plates in different thicknesses. It also includes 3D printer parts and other components, which will be shown in the following construction report. Of course, a detailed construction manual will also be available for the kit and will be available again from Christian Ludwig.
Starting the build report with the lower hull; it΄s the same for Pz. I and BW I:
Parts for middle and aft bogie:
The front bogie is different compared to the others…
Idler parts…
The track gear need to be very small – nothing exists at the market (only in 1:35 available) that΄s strong enough, therefore scratch build is needed:
to be continued….

I΄ve designed the boxes especially for small tanks like this one and Christian Ludwig manufactured them.
They (or other suitable) gearboxes will be available additionally to the Panzer I kit.

After mounting of the track covers
the lower hull is almost done, missing only some small accessories.
Switching scene to the upper hull: BW I is using the same frame as the Pz. I (seen left in the following picture)
The doors are moveable.
After the assembling and mounting of the muffler the upper hull of BW I is done.
With adding some accessories at the lower hull, the BW I is finished .
Building the upper hull and turret of Pz. I will be next.

here you are:

the Opel Maultier used the same tracks of the Panzer I and II, i.e. available scale tracks 1/16

Thanks for confirming. So the Maultier, Panzer I, and Panzer II's all used the same track?

Sorry, my mistake
The Maultier and Panzer I Ausf. A/B used the same tracks (width 28cm), but Panzer II tracks were a little wider (30cm), but for 1/16 that'll work perfect, bcause one of my next projects to design will be a Panzer II Ausf. C

Ok, it΄s time for News, i.e. the upper hull of Pz. I. As mentioned before it΄s the same basic rack
also with moveable hatches.
A very simple turret (because of the small size).
after these steps I΄ll have to wait till the 2nd set of 3D printed parts arrives

I see some fun with this & the pending Pz II. Would you have plans to offer other variants down the road for either a sIG 33 Bison or Marder II.
The Bison is so comical looking I need one just to have on the shelf.

The response of the market about the Panzer I kit is surprisingly good! So conversions are possible for sure, especially the Bison I because the gun is available in 1/16 from Panda:

The covers aren't that difficult; this is also on my list
Let's see what kind of conversions the future will bring...

Next step means installing of the electrical components inside the lower hull
A short video of the first moves J:
and at the upper hull.
a cabel tangle par excellence ;-)
but it works J
After applying Tamiya light grey primer and Wehrmachtsgrau the tank looks like pulled out directly from production line .
a sweet little grey mouse

the 4,7cm Pak ist one of my favorite conversions of the Panzer I
the shield is not the problem, but there is no almost matching Pak available in 1/16 and additionaly it have to be functional...

Looks great! Next time you'll need to run alongside another tank for scale. I would have hated being the poor ******* inside one who came up against the first T-26s in Spain.
