I asked them about the German stuff and they said they have over 200 pieces of equipment in storage all over in various stages of restoration.
The new museum is up in the air as they are having issues securing funding.
They will let you stop by the active restoration shop during work hours if you call in advance.

I was in the Cavalry (in both armor, HMMWV, and DRT on helicopters), for a short time I was a loader on an Abrams tank.
Armor really is an amazing thing to be a part of...I've always wanted to take on a project building a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, though it's always seemed a bit out of my scope of ability...at least how I would like to do it.

I miss volunteering at the Fort Snelling Museum helping out with the tank restorations. I'd like to visit Armor and Cavalry annex at Fort Benning someday. They got some of the pieces we restored at Fort Snelling when they closed the museum. Be nice to see the tanks I helped restore and maintain again. The M26 Pacific I got to drive is at the US Army Transportation Museum in Fort Eustis, Virginia.

One of the most memorable times I had in the military was driving a T72 after Desert Storm.
We had to clean everything that we brought back to the states, it was pretty cool to be able to look at the interior without any worry about being tactical.
I recall the hollow track center guides being a massive pain in the rear to get clean. So much compacted dirt in each one that only really came out with a pressure washer which resulted in being blasted with wet dirt and rock bits.
