Danville Armortek Meet is Sept. 12!!!
The 2nd annual Armortek tank meet is scheduled at the Danville AAF Museum (that's in Virginia) on September 12. There'll be large heavy metal 1/6 rc tanks driving around inside the museum so come on out and have fun! It's also the museums' Flamethrower Day so lot's to see! Hope you can make it!

Aww Gary. The Armortek meet last year was the FIRST time 1/6 rc tank owners has had a chance to get together in the U.S. There were some 'non' Armortek 1/6 rc vehicles there too, nobody cared, and everybody had a good time
The 1/16 tank enthusiasts have 'Battle Days' many times a year but this is only the second year for 1/6 rc vehicles at AAF (the AAF owner really liked the large rc tanks last year).
And this second meet there'll be a few more 1/6 vehicles of other makes. We're all 'RC TANKERS' and we're there to meet, talk, have fun, and enjoy our tanks together.

Well, bringing the hetzer to Danville probably won't happen this year. Because of the coronavirus I haven't seen any overtime since February and it doesn't look like I'll be seeing any in the near future and without that overtime I just kind of squeak by. But bringing the hetzer to Danville is now on my bucket list and if I don't make it this year it gives me that much more time to plan and save for next year.

After some back and forth indecision it looks like the wife & I will be at Danville for this event. We have a couple of 1/6 armor models (not Armortek) that we will bring just to add to the collection. See you there!

Hi Mark!
I'm going to get another UHaul van (but one size larger) like last year and take all the tanks. And this time I'm going to take my wife's camera instead of my old floppy disc so maybe I'll get better pics. We were so busy last year setting up I didn't get to look around the museum as much as I wanted to.
Last year Larry and his wonderful wife Brenda REALLY helped out by driving over to AAF to the meet. I sure APPRECIATED their help because I needed 'experienced tank drivers' driving'em because we don't want any mishaps.
At the meet I'm more of a 'sitter at the table' than a 'driver'. I drive my tanks around here at home and I like for others who enjoy'em and run'em so I can watch and listen to the 'tac-tac-tac' of the tracks on the floor!

Awwwwww! I need to move closer. Californy is dead. Nothing much in the way of organized armor stuff out here. I have to get going on my projects and actually build my Armortek stuff. Time to get off my duff with regard to 1/6 as well as move somewhere where I can stretch a bit......And I really need more room...

Morning Mike, sometimes it's difficult to find the time to take pictures at events, I always come away wishing I had taken more pictures than I do, I normally spend the day talking with so many people that it's difficult to find the time to drive the tanks around not to mention visiting the stores for more books.
I'm looking forward to the day we can attend an event, these are still restricted owing to bat flu.

The RC 1/6 Meet at AAF is on Sept 12! We'll be at AAF when they open on Friday, Sept 11, to unload the tanks and get set up.
We're all staying at the Comfort Inn & Suites on 100 Tower Drive Friday night (and some until Sun).
It would be GREAT for anyone who's interested in large scale tanks to make the trip and VISIT, drive some tanks and BS about our rc tank hobby! Looking forward to seeing ya!

Gramps, I'll be there in spirit if not body. Oh how I remember the AAR's at the bar in Comfort Inn......food was good, too, and don't know if that Italian restaurant up the road a short piece is still up and running but if it be, it's worth the ride.

Have fun and be safe Mike. (I too wish I was closer)
Repeat after me... must take pictures. Must take pictures. Must take pictures.

Hi Bob!
Yeah, last year we had a really good time! Sure wish YOU could be there too!
When I made the Comfort Inn res I made sure to ask IF the Mexican restaurant/bar would be open and they said 'yes'. Last year I enjoyed a couple of those BIG COLD MUGS of 'Colorado Coolaid'! Then sat out on the metal picnic tables with Larry and Johnny and had an excellent time talking. (The only 'sad' thing this year, because of covid, is the CI morning breakfast isn't going to happen but they said they'll have muffins.)
It was so great to meet Larry & Brenda (who are GREAT!) and other 1/6 rc tank owners (and there'll be more 1/6 tanks this year!)
I'm hit'in the road early in a 10' UHaul loaded with tanks and looking forward to seeing everybody plus (this time) looking around the museum more! I even bought me a NEW PAIR of Crocs flip flops (because my others are too grass stained from mowing the grass...)

Edit: Even custom batteries are possible if you want to go 100% green too. While I can't show you how to build a pack on cam for safety reasons (you can find that on YT) after I finish the 3d print designs I can share some of my SPIM08HP pack builds I'm doing for my electric shifter kart. All the series and output covers are designed and made, but I need to work on a few parallel covers and such so it is a fully covered battery and modular. I can always spot weld them together but I want to make a pack I can tear down and replace since I'm going to be doing something like a 18-24S/3P+ pack. I've been making packs for my friends and such lately building camp batteries with BMS built in and they are fun to work with as long as you understand how a battery works.
