rpmtech,
The Stuart looks good!!! I may be getting hold of you sometime soon to see if you can give me a little info how you had to do the motors and gearboxes and the radio conversion.

They were actually pretty easy to do, the bad part is that you need a lathe to modify the stock drill chuck to attach the sprockets. I got my drills from www.harborfreight.com

the ones I used were were 14v cordless drill, and like 20 bucks or so each. as you can see they barely fit in lenght so that was lucky.

I also tried using the stock trigger drill speed controls via a servo pushing the trigger. It worked but was crude and there was a nasty speed jump from like 3/4 power to full that would actually spin the tracks! so they are not linear like better esc's. Also they will not hold up, they have a single "fet" or voltage regulator that will burn up, done that, so I know they will not hold up.

The worst part is that you need good ESC's to make the tank work right, there is just no way around it, you gotta spend the $$.

And also DO NOT plan to use the stock electronics with the drill motors, they will not take the power and you will break something with the viloent on/off of this setup, it is really nasty as these motors really have some power so you gotta have good control of them.

If you can get the drills, there is a screw inside the chuck that has a REVERSE thread, so remove that and the chuck is threaded on the shaft so just unscrew it. If you can send me the chucks I will mod them for you on the lathe, so all you'll have to do is screw the sprockets on.
