Primer and paint....LOTS of primer and paint. I cant believe how much paint I am using on this thing. Its like its absorbing it all or something. (Keep in mind, I am used to 1/35 or 1/32 scale models).

RE: MY LEOPARD IS COMING
This is my first big tank, so not sure I should be giving advice
With that said, I started off with Tamiya Metal Primer (only specifies metal, but works great on plastic too), because it was available in the hobby shop. I liked it because it was clear, and went on really thin, and when dry, it was beautiful. It was nice painting over the top of it. I bought 2 cans thinking that would be enough, but it wasnt. When I went back, they didnt have anymore of it. I ordered some more, but they didnt understand me when I was placing the order, and what I got was surface primer, which specifies metal and plastic, and is gray. This also sprays on very nicely (doesnt hide detail), but its harder to cover the gray color with the base coat. Also, I got some strange static thing happening when I was painting the bottom hull. I imagine its because its so large. To take care of that, I bought a plastic wash that states that it takes away static, and prevents dust from settling on the surface. Thats been working great so far.
For colors, I am just using the recommended 3 tone nato camo colors from Tamiya. So far, I am only painting the green. I am pretty happy with it. Im shooting it through my airbrush thinned with Windex (about 50/50). The problem I am seeing now though, is that on the big surfaces, Im having a real problem getting an even coat (after many coats). What I was thinking of doing to combat this is buying some nato green in a spray can, covering most of the big surfaces with that (since the Tamiya spray cans seem to do a great job), then touching up the small nooks and crannies with my airbrush. I will give that a shot this weekend.

RE: MY LEOPARD IS COMING
When you get it, please post pics of the build.
Also, some size pics and proportion pics to real world items would be nice.
The more pics the better for all of us tank guys.

RE: MY LEOPARD IS COMING
Why not use Krylon Camouflage Spray cans?
They come in OD, Black and Brown and spray on very nicely (dry super quick, flat colour when dry, no gloss at all).
Extremely cheap for the size of can you get and works on metal & plastic.
http://www.krylon.com/main/product_t...roduct_details
http://www.krylon.com/main/color_pro...uflage%20Paint
Don't go by the colour swatches on that webpage, they are totally different (the Olive Drab looks like typical Olive Drab when sprayed, not the dark they show).
However I'm not sure how close these colour would be to Nato standard. In fact now that I think about it, a $1000 model doesn't deserve $3 paint cans!
Heh

RE: MY LEOPARD IS COMING
Maybe it was sent to me. I purchased the Tiger 1 that was advertised on here and on the sale forum. Instead I received a Leopard, still boxed in the tamiya shipping carton....So my Tiger evolved into a Leopard so it seems. Not real familar with this tank as I'm a big WWII buff. Gave 400 so guess i can't complain, completly sealed NIB....
