Armortek Tiger
Finally got the Tiger under its own power. Still needs unit markings and #'s. Im undecided about camo.
It will probably never really be finished.
You really need to think when driving one of these. At almost 300 pounds and tons of torque you can really screw (things) up.

Nice bumper sticker! You also have the ubiquitous metal pail hanging off the back. Any idea what it was typically used for?
Suggestions on camouflage: why not base it on the environment you typically run the tank in? By that I mean I am constantly surrounded by green, so a desert camouflage tank would look really out of place around here. Just like a snow camo'ed tank looks funny where it never snows and yet I see them all over RC tank battlefields in the summer sun. Might as well be painted day-glo orange...
Just a suggestion.

The bucket seems to show up in many original photos. Probably served as the bath tub in the field.
Since Im in SoCal I could almost do any paint pattern. Sand at the beach, green inland, snow in the mountains, desert, or metalflake for the city. I'd do spinners but there are so many wheels.

Man, that is reaaaally nice!
Did you buy it as a kit or did you buy it already put together, or what?
I'm thinking of going 1/6 and know that Armortek is right there at the top in quality. Anything so far that you would critique about their product?
Again, very nice. Keep the photos coming as you make progress.
Cheers....

RE: Armortek Tiger
Nice tank!
I believe it was a multi-purpose bucket.....moving warm anti-freeze to a cold tank...moving oil, gas....whatever.
I know a guy who was a tanker in the 70- 80's(US) and they had buckets on back of their M-60's(?).

RE: Armortek Tiger
Hi Dap
I went to the ARMORTEK site it was quite amazing.
So was the price.
Did they send you all the parts at one time or was it shipped seperately over time?
Are they going to bring out another version of the Tiger 'I see that this one is sold out already.
Are they as difficult to build as a Tamiya or just on a bigger scale.
I'm only familiar with Heng Longs so far.
Thanks Dave

RE: Armortek Tiger
Hi Dave.
I bought mine second hand. Probably the best way to get one in North America. Exchange rate and shipping will kill you.
In the begging Armortek sent out packs and you would build in stages. Now you get the whole kit at once.
They are much more difficult to build compaired to a Tamiya. Alot of parts dont fit well and need work. Holes dont line up, etc.
Add to that the weight, it makes it difficult. You just dont pick it up to do something. Instruction book was very poor.
I understand there will be a late model Tiger 1 in 2007. Hopefully they will correct some of the issues.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help.
David

RE: Armortek Tiger
The instructions really are a mess, not to mention the wrong fastners parts that dont fit. You would think for as much money as they cost they would do a better job.
Armorteks attitude is 'a little fitting' 'clean it up with a file' and it will be ok. This sort of thing along with the weak dollar is why they will never make it big in the United States. The standards in England dont seem to be very high IMO.

Very true. Add the incredable shipping costs.
Since the original post my Tiger has been repainted by Scott of Faded Armor (www.fadedarmor.com) and myself to the S33. Pictures can be seen at [link]http://www.southwestarmorgroup.com/[/link]. Also anyone looking for a Stuart there is one up for sale. Not a bad deal. The seller is not a member of SWAG so contact him from the email provided.

RE: Armortek Tiger
What is the price of the PzIII ? I read it was less, I dont know why they cant post prices. They always want you to e-mail for price. Maybe not everyone pays the same.
I have to finish my Panther before I even think of another.

RE: Armortek Tiger
That is a good price drop.
A Hellcat yum yum As good as a US halftrack, just that Atek did the wrong one [&o] with a fake front axle? and a square rear one?? Come on.[:'(]
Dave Springs in California is making M5s but he will take half a lifetime to finish them.
