About $50 on the world famous auction site. The guy sells them under the name "inferred" so they won't turn up in a normal "infrared" search.

Stalking Commies along the 38th Parallel in 1952 North Korea.

The Pershing has been sitting on the shelf since about the last post. The Walker BullDog has done all the travelling and a couple of others were built since then. I spied this location out close to home a few months ago and thought it would make a perfect backdrop for a photo op. Took my 6 year old daughter and drove the Pershing about 300 yards through brush and foot trails to these high peaks, it was about 95 degrees out, HOT! Once in position we took some shots and of course she has to go to the bathroom. We start heading back.

About 150 yards from the parking lot I see a polics cruiser with its lights flashing, uh ohh, what did I do? As we get closer and the brush clears I can see an officer looking at me, I wave in recognition, she waves back. About 75 yards from her a man pops out of the brush from around a foot path and takes me a little by surprise. I make eye contact and say hello putting myself between him and my daughter who's taking pictures of a gopher tortoise. The guy acknowledges me but looks like something is wrong. He looks towards the parking lot, does a double take, his eyes go wide and he turns back the way he came! The sheriff starts to drive off, having not seen the guy, I whisper to my little one that we need to di di mau and scoop up the running Pershing and we make for the parking lot. The sheriff lady starts to drive off, I'm not in position to get her attention so I hit the panic button on my car alarm and she stops and finally sees us. I get my daughter into the vehicle, fire it up, lock it and give her a description of the guy. That's who they're looking for! She has me pull my car near her cruiser, units are setting up a perimeter and have blocked off the road in both directions. About a minute later a helo shows up and heads in the direction I told them the bad guy was headed. She gave me the all clear and I got my daughter out of there! Don't know if they got him or not, hopefully they did. I briefly thought of sending my tank back in by itself with the sound off and the wireless camera on, that thought lasted a second! I didn't bring the receiver stuff anyway!

Maybe in a couple days I'll age some of these photos and see how they look. Good Night.

WOW! Some kind of crazy situation to get into on an innocent outing, but I'm glad you and your daughter made it out safely! [sm=thumbs_up.gif] You sound like a good dad, Swathy.

Nice tank, too.

Brought the Pershing into the motor pool tonight. This old girl hadn't been taken apart in over a year. What a mess inside! Leaves, dirt and dust everywhere! The speaker was covered with a layer of dirt and there were leaves sticking out of the gearbox! The interior had been painted white and it was grey and brown, yuck! The wiring to the turret was hard! What's up with that? The mount for the wireless camera fell apart, all the fender turnbuckles are damaged or lost, the gun jammed, etc. Made a list and put it back on the shelf for an overhaul after the Tauchpanzer build is complete.

Wow, there's some really awesome Pershings in here! I fear my Pershing won't be anything near impressive to look at. Oh well, it's a learnign process! Thanks for the information Swath!

He made them Bill. On the Marui Tank Group forum on yahoo he posted pictures a couple of years ago. Here, I even saved Caragan's picture!

The only instruments I play are a .30-06 and 12 gauge, music to my ears! My kids though are starting to play the Record (6yrs old) and Violin (11yrs old). Enjoy your trip!
Sharp looking tank, and the post above on turnbuckles will come in very handy.

You're welcome! This one is coming into the motor pool soon for an overhaul. Most of the fender braces are long gone and will be replaced. A new searchlight, err camera bracket on the gun shield will be fabricated and the turret rewired. I'm thinking of selling this one to finance another project. She's been a joy to work on and drive around but it doesn't fit in with my theme of North Afrikan armor!

With a crew like that who cares about a war? Off to a remote place for an inspection of the interior

Very nice work Gentlemen !  The timing of this thread couldn't be better as I just received my S&S M26 in the mail yesterday

After seeing the USMC M26 at Jaque Littlefield's a few years back [ on a friends College Field trip ] It had always stuck out in my mind when I think of Tanks so mine will be modeled after that one.
