I have just 1 1/16th scale taigen sherman m4a3. I am in the military and no time or money to really waste, the one tank I have I financed and paid off over 9 months....

My way of thinking tells me there's nothing wrong with rejuvenating an old or dormant thread.
Rwo there's nothing wrong or shameful about having just one tank! Sometimes I think I was happier when I had just one tank
( Of course I knew nothing back then and just getting it to run was a major challenge ) that said I'll never go back to that
state willingly...

Thanks, I love the way it looks. But when I drive it next to my buddies Taigen Tiger its a night and day difference in every aspect. Speed, Power, Performance. His can turn on the go very fluid like, mine will do a fair speed straight but when you try to turn it almost comes to a stop. Mine also seems to pick up every little bit of grass or anything and get ate up in the tracks and above the tracks and bind up the whole thing, if not throw the track off.(maybe this is inherit with a rear drive setup?) Its EXTREMLY noisy compared to his. Mine is more back heavy by far(can be changed by adding weights) so it won't climb over a lot of things, just goes up them and spins on its tail basically.
Basicly it is seeming like I got what I paid for compared to his so that's on me.
How is the drivability on the all metal Taigen Shermans?

A set of Taigen steel gears will fix most of your complaints, sounds like you have the monkey metal ones in there at the moment.
(of course there is no fix for the rear drive catching the grass, its the big downfall of both the Pershing and the Bulldog).

I am really leaning toward the all metal Taigen Sherman, it seems pretty stout. Can anyone attest to its drivability?
One thing I really enjoy about all the tank guys is that everyone embraces like the "Fury" movie styles. Some of them are my favorite builds

I did a lot of research before I made my decision, The Taigen Sherman was the best choice for me. It is Really heavy, (about 15 lbs) and well constructed. It runs Great. It has a lot of power. I like that the remote allows you to control the speed. A major consideration was the customer service, Although I have never had a problem in the 8 months since my purchase, Imex-Eric is Always available for help if you might need it. He is Always here on RCU, or available on the Imex Web Site. Check my gallery for pics. Good luck in your search.

So anyway, as for the original topic, when I first got into the hobby I ordered from Xenonproject and I ordered two tanks. Does that make me abnormal?
Perhaps the question should be "Does anyone here have less than five tanks".
RMD, I still haven't seen Fury, but sometimes the fact that it's been so well embraced can actually be a problem. For example, before the movie came out I was looking at doing an E8 conversion, but now everybody and his brother has an E8 project going so it kinda took away some of the attraction, and before the movie I rarely saw Shermans with logs tied to the side, but now every other Sherman out there has three logs on it. When I look for actual photos of the real tanks I very rarely see logs like that. I guess I just like the unusual and don't like to follow the crowd.
Chariot1, because he would never say anything about it himself, it's Erik with a K.

WOW, this thread brings back some old names. I wonder where half the guys are now?
I have way too many tanks. My Sherman count alone is 6, with another hull and parts awaiting assembly.
My advise to anyone is to buy a good set of lower ratio gearboxes as your first upgrade purchase if you have purchased a stock Heng Long. The four shaft boxes or the Mato 2.0 will improve the running of any tank. IF you spend $70 on that Pershing for some new gears the running performance will improve to be equal to the Taigen.

Welcome. This may be an old thread, but it points out how many have come and gone in this hobby niche as well. As a new tanker you are most welcome, and I hope we hear more from you and your tanking adventure. There are lots of upgrade electronics available to turn you Abrams into something that sounds like a Abrams
Here is a video of an Abrams I am preparing for a customer on its trail run. There was some physical interference between the electronics and the gun elevation, and this has been now rectified. Part of why I run a tank through trials before I send them out. Sometime you find things that you don't notice with the tank on the bench.

I have a Tiger I've named Heinz because it's a Heng Long/Taigen/this one/that one mix of parts and electronics. But it runs well and I like it. It's been an interesting learning curve with this hobby.

I am pretty sure the Abrams uses the long shafts. I never measured them but eyeballing them in the tank they appear to be the long shaft. The boxes I pulled out I threw into my parts drawer, and they are mixed with all the other stock gearboxes I have yet to throw out, so I can't see what I removed out of this Abrams.

Why stop at one ?
I like to have a variety, so i don't have multiples of the same tank.
Currently: Panzer IIIG 50mm, Sherman M4a3 105, T-34/76 1942, Panzer IV Wirbelwind.
Next project is a Sturmtiger
Cheers

Perhaps it's the Fage 0% yogurt I'm eating for lunch that has me a tad grumpy
But seriously isn't it polite to use one's name, I mean their REAL name when signing a post? Afrikakorps, really? Did you legally change your name?
Monikers are fun and all but come on folks, I don't believe AfrikaKorps walks among us....if your full name is Horatio Afrikakorps please accept my humble apologies...
