My opinion may not be definitive, but I think they look very good indeed. Also like the furled flag -- an idea worth adopting.

Nice idea and looks good, but one cosideration...they would normally be trying to rest, so laying the weapons across the lap or laying on the deck next to them wold be more realistic. If they were on a long haul and not expecting enemy contact, sitting up against the turret wold be OK, but if they were in an area where anything could happen, sitting on the back deck or on the sides or rear of the turret would be more ideal and they would have the weapons at the ready. Having infantry on the back deck, soaking up heat was very commonplace and I have had up to 25 on my tank with the understanding that the sound of any gunfire from any direction was a sign to unass the tank pronto. (They would anyway, as tanks draw fire and sitting on one can get unlealthy. Ultimate solider 1;18 figures are ideal for this use and can be conformed to almost any position.

You've got a sharp-eyed and clever Mrs there, A-frost ! Those little guys are getting harder and harder to find. Great idea! I can't believe the Russkies were the only ones to ever use "Tank Riders" .

Boggy terrain and lack of motorized (non-tank) infantry in large quantities, whilst Germans had halftracks etc to lug everything and everyone around, over that lovely eastern front mud. Probably the real reason they let the Germans come to them, the Russians couldnt be &@#$*@ walking that far

They weren't[X(]. When the chinese intervened in Korea, every tank had at least 25-30 on it heading south. Also in everyday operations on those murderous steep hills, US and ROK infantry would tend to ride on the back deck all the time....until the metal bees started buzzing around. Halftracks weren't all that dependable on those real steep hills and tanks (especially our "new" M-46s) were a lot more stable and easier to jump off in a hurry.
