My new Leo2a6 Before & After Pix.
Hi everyone,
I'd like to share my Leo2a6 picturs Before & After in this forum to all tankers when I starting to build this tank I so exited to finish it asap but impossible for me I'm so new for the tank but not cars or rock crawlers I can do quite well, I purchased leo on May 08 I changed some parts such as new ballbearings, metal idlers and sprockets attached to the roadwheels, Wow! unbeleivable I spent lots of money for this tank, I followed intruction very carefully it not easy to built this big guy the hard part is putting optic fibers to the tiny tiny holds for the lamps, next painting tank it took me a few weeks to finished it, I used hand brushes instead of airbrush I am not familiar with airbrush paint I'm always using Tamiya's acrylic colors and I use lot of colors especially Nato Green, Black and Brown.
I used a 6EX Futaba 2.4ghz fasst to drive this tank it seems okay for this radio everything works fine accept I could not fire a main gun I tried even modified the radio I have a map from Heat Armor's forum thanks anyway it so complicated for me to do therefore, yesterday I ordered the new radio from tower hobbies Model Futaba 4EXA 4-Channel FM/4 S3004 Servos (Surface# 65) it will be deliveried to my door step between on May 27-29/08 hopefully it will works properly for my leo.
Thanks for reading my massage and sorry about my english I'm not good enough

Welcome to our home, I'm sorry that I can't help you with the Futaba, as I use the Spektrum, but there are others on here that will know.

The Spektrum DX6 or DX6i (new upgraded model) are 2.4ghz, but I'm sure with the right help to set it up your radio will work, and from what I could see of your tank it looks good, post the build if you can, we always love to read about new builds and the finished tank.

Welcome. Can't help with your specific radio, but the following may help get things working.
Visit here for an rc tank setup guide concerning the Spektrum DX6 and BR6000 receiver for some info that may be general enough to be of help: http://web.mac.com/ethandunsford/DAK2/Radio_Room.html
Very important: When doing Tamiya DMD setup for the first time, have both DMD units and the receiver out of the tank and not connected to the tank (sorry), use fully charged "good" batteries and first carefully read and follow all the Tamiya DMD setup steps. This tip should go along ways to getting things programed.
Also, go to the trouble shooting DMD section in you instructions and reboot the units so you are starting fresh, before attempting to program again.

Thanks pcom1 for the information,
Finally the problem has been solved on my radio as I forgot to activated the receiver r607Fs[:@] after I connected the wires to ch1-ch4 from the DMD unit, to do this first tund on trasmitter and then put the botton on the receiver over one seconds to activation the receiver once it acivated the receiver will have solid green now rx and tx will work together for life, when the receiver has activated it will not be used to other transmitters the recever's ID its unique for this device 2.4ghz frequency, yeah I'm so happy I did it I wish it will be worked properly when I drive my Leo. LazyTanker:
One silly question the other guys seem to have missed: Are you running the beast on FM more, and ~not~ PCM? The Tamiya DMD/MF gear won't run with PCM control, you have to use FM operation on your Transmitter and make sure the Rx is an FM one. The easiest way to know is by the Rx coding...
I have a 6YG and it came with an R127DF, the DF stands for dual conversion (better for screening out interference) and F for FM operation. If it was a DP I'd be SOL, as thats a Dual conversion PCM operation one.
Did you check that out?

Very detailed job on the camouflage paint scheme, LT.
It's awesome that you took the time to actually reproduce the pattern that is standard to the Leopard 2A6.

RE: Need help please How to set up the new radio Futaba 6EX FASS 2.4Ghz to Leo2a6
Hi Lazytanker,
I think Futaba 6EX can be used to operate main gun and machine gun firing. I just bought a spektrum DX6i, also a 2.4g transmitter, for me tiger I. I can successfully operate the two firing functions by setting up mixing, the principle is to have the elev ch (the one controlling firing in DMD) also response to the input of one of the idle channel, i use the gear ch. you have to refer to your manual for actual setting as i found that it is the same for different transmitters, I can't even follow the instructions for the DX6, an earlier model, and have to guest and try for the correct config.

RE: Need help please How to set up the new radio Futaba 6EX FASS 2.4Ghz to Leo2a6
Things do start to get complicated when a computer radio systems involved. The Spectrum DX6i is a very good radio for the money and with full range for aircraft use.I think mine is a fair way off yet as i've only just got back into this type of scale modelling and used to race boats internationally for 8 yrs and then went onto cars. All in,i've been playing with nitro for 20yrs and its a case of spray cans and lexan for painting and a bit of liquid mask, thats the sum total so a little more complexity is involved here as you know.Once the two 1/16 scale tanks arrive, the M1A2 and the Bulldog,i'll break my teeth on them then get the 1/12 Abrams like Whackys and do the mods to that.Pity the 1/9 scale Abrams are'nt still available.Oh well,we gotta start somewhere....

Very detailed job on the camouflage paint scheme, LT.
It's awesome that you took the time to actually reproduce the pattern that is standard to the Leopard 2A6.

Thanks for your kind words, before I went to buy this leo couple months ago I kept seaching to the leo2a6's members in this forum I found not many people who builds the leo however, I'm so glad I found your leo and surprisingly yours it was built in the 2006 or 07 cant remeber wow! its still alives I also watched your vdo at the construction site that very impressive and unbelieveable its so taugh and durability because you drove and bashed it very hard this is the reason why I decided to buy the leo2a6 unquestionable. end the story for now thanks
