Just bought 1/9 MIA2 Abrams(now to Strengthen and Repair)
Well just bought a 1/9 Abrams off the well know auction site.I had been watching these for quite a while and had always thought my collection of tanks would be more complete if I had one.I have questioned how good these tanks are as far as the known problems and quality of this model in general,I guess I will find out.Don't know if the seller is a member here on the forum, but if you are and cared about your tank it is going to a good home. Now as with all the tanks I have bought I will have to sweat out its shipping ordeal from the seller to me.This will most likely be the last ready made tank I will be buying, but still think about scratch building a fairly large tank.I guess time will tellLOL BIGMIG

RE: Just bought 1/9 MIA2 Abrams
biggest thing is that front idler problem. also make sure the return rollers are spaced properly. there is a floating disk on the inside that the center post of the treads are supposed to go between it and the outside wheel. i noticed a couple of mine were not aligned right.
if your looking for a second one... i might part with it and the chip for even.

Dear Stuff,
If you are parting with your one, I'm interested in buying it.
Please PM me on how much you want for it. Would you know
how much to send that one to NY?
Also any photos?
Thanks,
Patrick C.

RE: Just bought 1/9 MIA2 Abrams
Well I just got an email from the seller he is going to ship it UPS on tuesday so I should have it early next week.He had commented in his add that it was making a clicking sound when he ran it and thought mabe this was just typical for this tank.Hopefully it has not had much if any dammage done yet because he said he has only ran it about 6 times and only in his house. If it is still in good shape I will give it a good going over and see if this problem can be corrected before I start running it around.Don't sound that hard to correct the problem of the front iddler to get the alignment wright. From what I have read on these tanks a little beefing-up of the hull might be in order,I'll see what I can do when I get it.Any tips on what other's have done will be welcome.

Hello turbobearcat,
One thing the guy had in his add when I bought the tank from him was that this tank was making a clicking noise when he would run the tank. After reading several posts about these tanks the problem seems to be with the front axle being pulled out of alignment due to track stress and the front body springs outward and causes the sprockets to hang up on the tracks. If mine I bought survives it's shipping trip to me I think this will be one of the first things I'll do is try to correct this problem before I even attemp to run it other than a short test run to make sure everything works.I will post this when I do the work on the track system.

RE: Just bought 1/9 MIA2 Abrams
Well I got my 1/9 Abrams today and it suffered some dammage during shipment, was afraid of this as soon as I seen the box.
Before I continue on with the tank would like to stress to others when you place a order with a seller and there is space provided for additional comments about shipping (ALLWAYS REQUEST THEY PUT FRAGIL STICKERS ON THE PACKAGE).I usually do this( did not this time and wish i had)and I'm convinced this makes a big difference in getting your package undammaged. This came all the way from Tennessee to Washington state and was handled who knows how many times in and out of semi-trailers.UPS is very good over-all as a shipping company and knowing how much freight they move don't allways blame them for a box that is dammaged that is not marked FRAGIL.There is a lot of boxes packed into a semi trailer and if the box was marked FRAGIL it would most likely be placed on top of the others.
All the broken parts or area on the tank will be pretty easy to repair. What got cracked or broken just by luck will be easy to repair and does not affect the overall structure and strength of the hull.My main concern was the iddlers, roadwheels, sprockets and tracks. They apear to be ok along with both hull parts. This tank appears to have had very little use(I was told this by the seller and it is very appearent to be the case),everything is in working order. Was able to find all the pieces that were broken off so the repair will be a piece of cake.I did test run it but I will now tear it down and go over the whole tank before it gets run anymore.I expect to make major improvement to the iddler and road wheels.
Will add the seller looks like he did try his best to package this tank for shipping and without the original foam shipping box this is not easy to do for most people. He will still get a good feedback from me,he shipped fast and tried his best and thats all I could ask.

Hey thanks Kennywsp,
I have two sisters that live in Longveiw,I'm about 38 miles farther southeast. If you get some spare time and your down this way and want to kill some time and shoot the bull be glad to have you over.I have allready did a quick repair job on the two cracks(really not a big deal)and put some of the external pieces back on that got knocked off and cleaned up the tank. The hardest part will be to repair the tail light guards, plastic twists and bends also when it gets broke. But the tank really looks good right now. They are a good deal bigger than the 1/6 M5 Stuart.A couple of pictures with a few repairs and a photo alongside the M5 Stuart.

Also thought I would point out you have 2 chanels to chose from on this Abrams,so two of these can be run at the same time.I wish my M5 Stuarts would have had this option,I have four of them but can only run one at a time. BIGMIG

BigMig what is that huge thing in front of the Abrams? Looks like your Abrams has some minor Damage from shipping at least you did not get one with the plastic defect where the road wheels jut crumble.
This tanks has the foxflier electronics and this thing is ****in!
